Help HTC Inspire "USB connector" identification

Is there an official name or designation for the phone-end data cable connector? Is the HTC Inspire(tm) phone connector something "standard" or is is proprietary?

I know that there are male and female connectors for each of the USB-A, USB-B, mini-A, mini-B, micro-A, and micro-B. I also know that there are an infinity of connectors possible with four(4) conductors -- five(5) in the case of mini and micro connections:

• (pin1)+5 VDC
• (pin2)data low
• (pin3)data high
• (pin4)Ident 'A' vs. 'B'
• (pin5)signal ground

USB in general. It leads me to believe that the Inspire might be a standard micro-B
connector, but I'm seeking confirmation any way I can get it.

I know its called a micro, but I know nothing more then that. The sole reason I am posting here is so I can find this thread easier, to learn the outcome.

The inspire is a standard Micro (or Micro-Mini) USB connection. The one you have referenced above with the pic is no longer being used. HTC used it for several Windows Mobile 6.x phones as well as a few Android phones. They came with an adapter like this:

You could plug in a standard MiniUSB cable into the port to charge, access data and the like. However, if you plugged that adapter in, you were able to plug in your MiniUSB cable as well as headphones/mic. This was the only way to use standard 3.5mm headphones on those devices as they didn't have headphone jacks.

HTC no longer uses these on their devices.
