I took my first pics Saturday. I was inside celebrating my twin granddaughter's birthday and took family pics... gift unwrapping, candles blown out etc. I'll not share my efforts but I will say that I thought the pics were better than I expected. My Rezound took good pics... these are better. I'm happy.

HTC talking about the future of their camera technology. It's an interesting read and really makes me look forward to the next revision of the HTC one

Or the one after next, if what he says about lenses pans out.

I did find the comment that camera companies "cannot match the brain power we can put into a phone" a bit laughable though. The weakest aspect of phone imaging, unless the manufacturer just uses a really bad lens, is commonly the image processing, and HTC are not excempt from that.

I personally have no problem with the camera. It takes photos ALOT faster than my Razr HD did! The photos look a lot sharper too. All in all I'm extremely happy with this phone.

Here are a couple of my instagram shots. In general I like the camera but it could certainly do better.

The shots look great on my phone but cropped and blown up on the computer you can see the digital artifacts.

**Setting up custom camera modes and saving them**

-Updated Added link in OP for reference

For all of those who have not found the custom settings option for the camera, you have the ability to create custom, named camera presets you can save and can be used to perfect your shots before they are taken

Below I will outline the steps to setup and access these presets:

-Open the camera application and make sure you are in the mode you want, as each camera preset is mode specific (Video, selfie, dual camera, camera) Not all modes allow for camera specific adjustments.

-Press the 3 dot menu button to bring up the adjustments menu and change your settings to suit your needs

-Press the “gear” on the far right with the adjustments menu up and scroll down to “save as camera”

-Name the preset

Now for the cool part- In order to access the presets you press the mode symbol (bottom right square with 4 circles inside). You will see 2 dots on the right side of the screen. Swipe up to access the second page, showing your presets.

You can hold and drag the preset to the first screen for quicker access, and rearrange the modes in any order you wish. You can delete a preset by long pressing it and dragging it over to “delete” in the upper right corner of the screen. You will also notice the icons for your self-created presets represent the camera mode they are set for. Congratulations, you are one step closer to amazing pictures!

Keep in mind that presets do not affect the following, which carry across to all applicable modes:

-Adjustments to make-up levels, contrast, saturation, sharpness or specialized modes like mono, DOF, country…etc.)
