Are all the screen protectors for this phone rectangles that only cover the glass, or are there some that extend to the top and bottom of the phone leaving the speakers and such open?
Has anyone had any gripes with the screen protector edges feeling awkward where the end at the edge of the screen? I've never had a phone where the screen isn't the whole face, and I worry about this as a future One owner.

I have screen protectors from two different mfgs & both cover the glass only.
Haven't used either one of them,so,as for your concerns regarging the durability,etc... others will have to chime in.
 
Just posting a brief* follow-up on this:

PowerGlider External Battery Case for HTC One (M7)

Still providing promised charging rate of approx 80%.

Today was the 1st time I actually ran the phone down to less than 5% before turning the case on.I left the phone powered on & for the most part & let it sit idle just to see how much the case would charge the phone.Charging stopped @ 75%,so,I'd say that's right about on target,taking away a bit for energy loss from power xfer from the case & power consumed during stand-by.

Your results will be even better when having both the phone & case charged to 100%,then run the case power down 1st,eliminating most of the power loss due to re-charging from case-to-phone.

Prior results I experienced w/the MOPHIE case & the GALAXY S3 were virtually identical,so,unless you happen to favor the MOPHIE brand,I'd go w/the I-BLASON model & save yourself $40.

*So much for brevity........................... :boring: :p

Similar to the one that POETIC had out for a brief time.

Review: HTC One Poetic Borderline bumper case

This one is much sturdier & has no gapping/pull around the edges.

However,as w/the POETIC model,the POWER/I-R Remote button is covered.

This is even easier to alter than the POETIC,as there is a cut-out in the main frame of the case for the button.

Just simply trim away the rubber flap covering the button w/a razor (carefully,I disassembled a disposable razor & used the blade freehand) & you'll be good to go.

If you have a steady hand,you'll be hard-pressed to notice the alteration. :D

I just got the Otterbox Defender for myself, and the HTC case/cover that converts into a stand for my wife. The HTC case is surprisingly good for what it is. Mostly she just needed light protection mostly for the corners, since she already dropped it and now has the shiny aluminum showing through the black paint on one corner. Converting to the stand works well, and so far she is happy with it. She was most worried about adding too much bulk, but this worked well, even with the flap.

I got the Defender, mainly because I need a lot more protection, and I have been using a Defender on my Evo3D for years. I have been hugely impressed by their quality, and especially their support. I have to say that so far, I don't think they hit a home run with the Defender for the One. The outer rubber, I have mixed feelings about. It is much harder than the older cases. This may make it less prone to stretching, which I know some people had problems with. It is also much smoother. I don't think it feels as comfortable in my hand, nor as grippy. On the plus side, it is nowhere near the lint magnet that my Evo3D Defender was.

I'm not sure I like the overall design either. I know that having the IR blaster in the power button introduces extra problems when designing a case, but their choice didn't makes sense to me. Because the cutout isn't front and back, it actually makes it a little annoying to hit the power button. Not a huge problem, just a minor annoyance to me. If you have smaller fingers, it may not bother you at all.

The only major complaint I have really, is the builtin screen protector. The Evo3D Defender seemed to be nice and tight against the screen. This one has a noticeable gap, enough so I hear almost a tapping noise with every touch to the screen. It also seems to make it harder for the phone to register my touches. I have installed the latest update, and it registers fine without the case. It may just be a bad case. I have a second one that should get here Monday. I will see if that one is any better. I'm also not really thrilled that the screen protector doesn't cover the capacitive buttons. Not a huge deal, but something you might want to know ahead of time.

All that being said, it would be easy to think I don't like the Defender for the One. I'm actually still very happy it. Unlike some other Defender cases, it really adds little bulk to the phone. Not to say it is slim by any stretch of the imagination., but it gives good protection while not being huge. Also, one of my biggest complaints about the Defender for the Evo3D, was that the raised edges made it very difficult to register touches at the edges. The Defender for the One appears to have fixed this issue. I am thrilled by that change.

Overall, I am still happy to be using another Otterbox Defender. I am probably a bit biased because of how well their support worked for me in the past. I have seen other cases similar to this that look like they might actually resolve some of my complaints with the Defender, but as long as their support stays top notch, I'm happy to stick with them. Of course that doesn't mean I won't be trying some other cases. :-)
 
Glad you like the Otterbox Defender. I thought about getting it when I bought my HTC One, but I decided to get the Otterbox Commuter, and I am very happy with it.

The Otterbox Commuter case fits like a glove and provides great protection. Since I got my HTC One, and the Otterbox Box Commuter case, I have dropped my phone a couple of times and the case has protected it.

I have to say that so am very happy with the quality and build of the Otterbox Commuter case.

Just made the switch from iPhone to my first droid, the HTC One. Great phone so far and now I am looking to get a good car mount for it. I am hoping that some of you have some experiences with them and can recomend a quality/affordable one to me. I am OK with either windshield, dash or vent mount (least preferable), and would ideally like one that can hold a cable in some way so that I can easily plug it in to my device each time. Another must is that it can hold my phone with a case on it, the UAG Outland case.

I have never actually owned a car mount for my phone before so perhaps I am overlooking some other critical information and if so just let me know.

Any help is greatly recomended!

I've been using the Exogear mount for my Evo3D with Otterbox Defender case for a couple of years now. It still works great for my One with the Defender case. The suction cup is by far the best I have used. It is also quite stable. The only drawback is, it doesn't have integrated power, so it won't automatically go into car mode, and you have to just use a regular power cord. They have a new version that looks a bit better, which I may spring for. Only $30. Like I said, mine has lasted two years, through freezing Midwest winters, and 100 plus degree summers.

I got this from Best Buy and you will never need to buy another mount because it fits any phone. I can use it with my HTC EVO 3D or HTC One. I recommend always having a case on the phone when using the mount because it has a nice snug fit. Your phone won't go anywhere in that mount. I wouldnt use a naked HTC One in the mount.

I haven't tried them yet, although I am seriously leaning toward the i-Blason one. They also have it in White. From what I have seen of reviews, people are pretty happy with it, especially for the price. Based on reputation alone, I think Mophie has the edge, but it is hard to argue with a price difference that large, when most of the reviews are so positive about it.

I've only had my phone less than a week, so I am not ready to spring for a power case yet. The battery life so far has been good enough that I don't feel rushed to get something. Since I already use a Defender case, the size isn't a factor for me. The white i-Blason one in particular looks really nice. The kickstand isn't a bad feature either. Personally, I thought it looked kind of... out of place I suppose. Kind of ruins the lines and look of it. The black one the kickstand is nowhere near as noticeable as on the white one.
 
I bought an no-contract black One off of Amazon, and I also bought the Poetic Atmosphere case in black/clear. This will be the first time I've ever bought a case for a phone, pretty excited!

Well,maybe half-crazy,I managed to find a new/open-box model on e-Bay for $45,so,I can live w/that.

As the video shows,it does indeed dress up the phone very nicely.It's well-built,high quality,the seams are virtually invisible when the two pieces are screwed together.

Functionality is right on the money.All port cutouts are exact,volume rocker,once again as w/most cases,works even better than the phone sans case.

The I/R POWER BUTTON is the best feature of this case,as the clear construction allows for I/R BLASTER functions to work as desired.As w/the volume rocker,the power button works better that stock,easier to depress w/o protuding too much for accidental depression.PERFECTO w/the power button!:D

This case is not for everyone,as it definitely isn't providing any protection to the backside,however,you can lie it face-down on a flat surface w/o worry.

As for a pure bumper case,it's a FERRARI compared to the rest of the limited selection of such bumper cases.Along the lines of the FERRARI analogy,there are a couple of what I consider high-maintenance PITA issues:

1) The case has to be assembled/disassembled each time you desire to switch up,or,go caseless.A relatively simple procedure,but,the chance of losing parts during this changeover is EXTREMELY HIGH,as the parts are EXTREMELY SMALL.I myself already lost the POWER BUTTON* yesterday & am awaiting for the mfg to send replacement parts.This was entirely my fault,but,as the end of a long day is not the best time to be disassembling something w/virtually invisible parts,as my mind was no doubt on other things @ the time & I was careless.

*EDIT:I found the POWER BUTTON! :D I also wanted to add that during assembly,the power button is contoured to fit the curveature of the case,therefore,care should be taken to ensure that the button is placed in the proper orientation during assembly.You can indeed assemble the case w/the button 180' out of position,but it will not depress/work properly.


2) The dogbone design is a plus,a bit unusual,but,it does provide a more ergonomically correct fit for use.However,the edges are a bit on the crisp side & tends to cause the hand to feel tired after prolonged use (gaming particularly,etc...).I believe if the edges had a slight radius/chamfer,this would not be an issue.It's not a deal breaker,but,worth mentioning,mainly for those who are literally attatched to their phones all waking hours,otherwise,it's OK!

The WOW FACTOR is high on this,as many of my co-workers who've seen it definitely take notice.

If you can get past the above mentioned issues,this is definitely one way to make your phone stand out among the rest.I myself recommend it,w/the condition of a drop in MSRP or,finding a deal as I did on e-Bay,etc.

I really like the look of the Spigen case. It provides some protection without detracting from the phone's appearance. But, I couldn't justify spending $20 on a case with such awful reviews. :(

As you can see in the AMAZON link/listing,there are other models/materials to choose from in this design,all within the $5.00 range.The one that I have (UNI-COLOR Clear/Black) has an excellent fit/looks nice,yet doesn't detract from the looks of the phone.
 
I really like the Poetic Atmosphere case, this thing is built really well. First case I've ever put on a phone too!
