Help HTC ONE battery discussion (usage, charging, etc.)

Tried all three, to no avail. No battery charge activity on the battery monitoring app I use. I'm using 4.2.2. Rooted, but running the original OS only. I've had it for less than a month. I've already tried a factory reset, though I didn't reset all the apps.

Was it plugged in when you did it?

If so, try it without, sorry for not being clear.

If it wasn't plugged in and you got that message, it's service center time.

Okay, so the hardware reset just got me a 'Power Surge' option again, for a second. Then it went back to being non-responsive.

It wasn't plugged in when I reset it, but it was plugged in when the cimputer surge - I was trying to charge it again.

That's a calibration issue. The phone isn't shutting off early, but the meter is telling you that you have more left than you really have.

It's also a lot more common across different phones than you think.

In my experience the worst cases usually recalibrate after the shutdown. There are recipes for recalibration, but I don't have the confidence in them to suggest one, so will leave that to someone else.

I know from experience that my meter is calibrated OK, but for the good of the battery I try never to let it run down that low anyway.

Is it normal to drop 16% in 3 hours while the phone is idle?

The radio used 5% in this time while WiFi active (but not connected) used 6%.

I unplugged at 6am @ full charge, set phone down and didn't touch it till 9 and it was at 84%

Hoping to get this resolved as before the 4.3 update I seemed to be getting much better life.

I have gsam (that's where the stats above came from) however I'm not sure what to look for or where to look.

That's not normal. I've had a low usage day today, and have dropped 15% in 9 hours with 55 minutes screen on.

If you don't already have one, get a battery monitor (GSam, BetterBatteryStats, Wakelock Detector) and find out what's really using it. I'd look in particular for anything that's stopping the phone from sleeping.

Guys please help if can :( I have already been using my phone for few months already and I don't play games or listen to music much with it and also I doesn't on my 3G often as well. So usually everyday I'll charge my phone when I'm in my room or when I got back to my room and then until night time when I sleep it'll be fully charged, then i unplug it and goes to sleep. The next day i Check the phone it still has 80~9x% of battery left, but last 2 days until now, my battery suddenly drains very fast, like yesterday my battery life suddenly became 4x% when I woke up, and I did the same thing the day before! fully charged then unplug it before sleep. Today the same thing happened! these 2 days I've only installed 1 app which is whatsapp+ so I thought that's the problem, so I uninstalled it and then install back the original whatsapp but still the battery drains very fast! I've also updated all the app in my phone through play store during these 2 days :( I didn't change anything and wifi and all other battery draining app is closed before I go to sleep. So was wondering what just happened to my phone?? :((

Can you check the power settings of the phone and probably see what apps are being power hogers. Also let it drain down until the phone is completely dead and then charge it (while powdered off) until 100% and then see what happens

Click on app usage. When it gives you a list of power used by app, the title at the top is a drop down menu. Tap it and look at "time held awake" in particular.

I have something odd that happens from time to time. I have a message on the top of the phone stating battery hot or something similar as it happens quickly. The odd thing is nothing is running and when I check battery temp it says 83 degrees on the battery monitor. Not rooted. Latest updates installed and it did this before the os update as well.I'm not concerned but it seems to be misinformation. Has anyone else seen this?

EDIT: Yes, GSam battery monitor. Thank you

The weirdest thing happened today.. I'm on 4.3 stock and after my HTC One charged to 100%, I unlocked the screen, the battery % fell down to 98%. Wait like 20 seconds, then another 2%, another 2%, and from then on the battery acts like normal, not dropping 2% like it just did. What in the?! I have done about three factory resets and my battery life still sucks. I have no apps causing it. Lookout was eating a lot of my % up, but I deleted it. This all started happening after I updated to 4.3. Any suggestions?

I think that after the update the best thing is to drain down the battery till it's dead, then charge it up while phone is powered off for the first charge. I've achieved always best results doing this with already several HTC phones. I remember experiencing this drop in battery after updates on my Evo OG, Evo 4G & 3D...

Sweet, thanks for the tip. I'll definitely try that.

Hey Everybody !

I have a silver HTC One 32gb which is unlocked and I am from the UK. I have to say ever since I received the Android 4.2 update (A while ago) my battery life has gone down. Before I would go to sleep with 100% and on a good night with nothing on the multi tasking bar, I would wake up to 96 - 99% sometimes still 100% but after the update it goes down to 90%. I remember before the update I could check my phone a few times before it drops just 1% and now it goes to quickly. I attributed it to me accidentally taking the "Power Saver" mode off but ever since its switched on again, the story is the still the same. I am expecting Android 4.3 update soon and 4.4 KitKat a while from now but can someone help ?!

Thanks

I'm having the same issue, for the last couple of days my battery life has been pretty terrible. I'm going to try to factory reset and wipe all the junk off the phone to see if that helps any.

Hello there.

I'm having just the same issue as everyone.
I charge my phone up to 100%, then when I disconnect the charger, lock, un lock screen and it goes below 95% and have to reconnect over and over again until it stops dropping.

I have been having this problem since I updated via OTA to 4.3.

Is there a way to recalibrate the battery without rooting? I just don't want to root it yet as I bought it in June.

Thanks!

Andr
