Root HTC one s Update problem

Hello everyone i am facing problem in updated andorid os...my friend and me has purchased same set a couple of days ago, his phone migrate from 4.0.3 to latest version whilst mine one is not updating, update keep alerting that your new update is there when i download it and start loading it...it just done 100% bar and very after that i am getting red colored triangle warning which i presumed process stopped and phone get restarted and my phone still stay at same version please do help how to update my phone or guide me if there is any otherway to root it or update my os

Is it stock HTC one s - who is your carrier? (t-mobile AT&T etc?)What have you done that got you here, we could use some more information so that we can better help you. Do you know how to boot to bootloader?
