Root HTC Really, REALLY Screwed Up

Is CM7 sense-based? Look in /system/app for htclogger.apk (I think that's the right filename).

The video shows what's what :)

You never know when you're going to flash a sense rom for a minute or two. Obviously a lot of work done on this so I have no problem donating a dollar to the efforts. Things like this keep us safe.

I'm a fan of HTC phones as well, but I am not surprised at a multi national corporation selling user information to make money. Without getting political and hijacking this thread, I'd be surprised if they didn't.

i agree completely. everyone should buy the paid app, even if you have no interest in it to show your support and appreciation. hes also got a donate link on the xda thread linked above. i personally "bought him lunch",and felt it was well worth it. i was pleasantly surprised to get a reply back from him saying "thanks and let me know if theres anything i can do for ya". most devs get countless emails, pms, etc. so to take the time for an actuall reply is pretty cool,in my book.

Well the last time I ran a sense rom it was very briefly. Not too worried about this I will just make sure if I buy another HTC phone I will need a way to root it very shortly after purchase and run AOSP.

That's my felling exactly. Although, I'm pretty sure my next phone will be a Sammy :)

I sent in the money, downloaded the program and have no clue what to do next. If I go to menu and select remove log it says only available to donators. Rebooted all kinds of things and nothing. Oh well, it's only a buck.

Open the key you got from the market and the app should work

Wrote on HTC's facebook wall with a link to the article...they didn't seem to appreciate it as much as their customers did, but one guy who commented cracked me up.

Yikes! I wish this thread was in the regular area too. i just happened to see It here.

What does this secure take do, in non tech terms?

I went into application, loggers, and cleared data. Does that help any?
