HTC Sensation - Reviews

Please don't post anything from T3, their reviews are horrible, they get basic specs wrong and usually appear to have no idea what their talking about.

Although I like them, I find them a day or two, behind other tech sites such as engadget or techradar. Also I think I've read that the Atrix had a 2Ghz processor. IS that correct?

No, maybe they think 1GHz + 1GHz = 2GHz, would not supprise me.

I had a go with the sensation in a vodafone shop yesterday. I think it must have needed rebooting as it was terribly laggy, stuttered just swiping through homescreens. The screen is brilliant though. To be honest i couldnt see any difference except the standard lock screen with regards to how it looks, looks identical to my desire hd with regards to sense etc. My upgrade isn't until the end of the year so i'm hoping their will be more of an upgrade by then. Also the 1080p video recording was great, but i think that will very quickly eat memory space.

The "Holiday" perhaps (surely a working title) and it's 4.5" screen!

I don't upgrade till the end of the year either and I'm hoping for some new handsets to consider too.

The Sensation is getting very good reviews, but not always top marks. From what I've read, the Galaxy S2 is nudging ahead in overall marks. Though personally I prefer Sense to Touchwiz

I also went into a Vodafone shop today to try one out and tried 2. One was like you describe, but worse. The other, straight out the box was excellent. I should have put my own SIM in though, as the one they stuck in didn't connect!

The problem with the duff one was that it was in a special security cradle which must have just been touching the screen slightly. So whatever you did with a finger just seemed to confuse it. Was the one you tried in a cradle?

However, I compared the signal level with my Desire HD and they were the same (both had a full signal). Back to the new one and playing about with screens and they spun around as fast as I could make them. Definitely as good as, or better, than my DHD. Screen was superb, looked brighter than mine but forgot to check the setting (mine was on max.).

What I like about it, apart from the fact that I like the latest and greatest etc ...., is the width and contoured edges make it a lot easier to hold than the DHD. The headphone socket and USB port are in more convenient locations, for me anyway, with regards to my car and desk holder setups. Also, it's supposed to have a HID Bluetooth profile so BT keyboards should be a lot easier to setup. (If anyone's tried this please let me know - separate thread somewhere).

Looking at the end of the month for an upgrade, but probably from CPW 'cos I don't want the VF SW crud on the phone..

I visited a Vodafone shop yesterday to try out a Sensation but God knows what other customers had done to it as it was pretty much unusable.

The touch screen barely responded and the whole thing just chugged along, I did my best to clean it up, including force stopping loads of apps and restarting it but to no avail. It can't have been in the shop long so it's amazing it had gotten into such a state.

A shame too as I was hoping to give it a good try out but no joy :(

However, despite their similar screen sizes it was clear to me that the Sensation looks more compact and smaller that the Galaxy II because the GII is a pretty ugly rectangular block and looks it!

More reviews and final one from me by Pocketnow. Since the non-Vodafone version of the phone is out in the next week (20th June?) this thread should give you a good idea if it's a smartphone you wish to purchase or not.

One thing i would like to say is that it's a shame all the reviews for the phone so far have been handsets which have been provided by Vodafone because they had the phone first. I'd like to know when the sim-free version is released if HTC have made any tweaks or improvements to the phone or if anything is different, faster, etc. Doubt we'll see any reviews then to be honest.

I just got this phone for my girlfriend and it is pretty damn good I must say. However, even though it is a dual core 1.2, the swiping between home screens isn't as smooth as I would have htought. The lag is noticeable. Aside from that, everything is so far so good. Battery life is not as good as I had hoped but its not abysmall like the tbolt. Overall an amazing phone and definitely the best android phone in the US right now.

My Sensation cleared customs this morning, will have it in my hands after work today. Clove Blog review and comparison with my SGSII to follow.
