HTC Sense - what the frick is it?

Dizzster

Newbie
I don't get it. Probably because I can't log onto it?

Where is it on the handset? I tried logging on to the webpage via laptop, and it says I have to log in on the handset? Where??????

Is there meant to be a sense 'app' or something?

Am I being a total dunce?

I hope it is something good when I work out what and where this thing does/is.

The website told me to:

On your phone, tap the Setup icon in the All apps screen and sign in when you see the HTC Sense screen.

Well - I don't GET a sense screen???

I get language - keyboard - transfer data - net connection - schedule sync - wifi - google location - accounts (email).

That is all?

Ok - so is it all about the syncing data?

I'm a little confuzzled to be honest.... I unlinked most of my contacts, because frankly I don't want the whole of facebook on my phone... only linked immediate family, good friends and the other half...

What's the website for then?

Thanks for the help :)

Oh, sorry I made an error :)

Go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account > HTC Sense

Still don't get it :(

Signed up off my phone. It sent me a verication email (in polish or russian or something!!). When I log in on the website is just continually loads and does nothing (when I press the 'I have signed in on my phone button).

Very frustrating.

I already created the account and verified my email address. Found HTC sense on my phone, and it's there on the accounts page.

I received the verification email 5 days ago. Still no joy (which is why I thought I couldn't have it on my phone, or something!!).

Should I email HTC?

Feel free however they do know it's broke and the response you'll probably get is: 'we know it's broke and our engineers are working on fixing it asap. I trust that resolves your issue yada yada'.

This.

Seems to be the standard response since I first emailed them back in (I think) November.

Mate, in the EXACT same situations.. down to a tee.. (even the russian/polish email!!)

Have tried over a few days.. and just CAN NOT login to the 'dashboard' that everyone keeps talking about..

I load the login page, logs in fine and it says i need to "sign in from phone" but it just doesn't work when i click the "I had log in on my phone" (which makes no sense on a side note :S)

EDIT 25/01
Worked out that the login app on the phone is "HTC Hub"

What's a Frick?

Same as Frack?

My HTC Sense works OK.

On my HTC Desire HD I have enabled an HTC Sense account using my gmail account but with a different password on the HTC Sense website. I have set the refresh to once per day.

I have used my desktop computer to login to my HTC Sense account.

I can load the Dashboard on a desktop web browser. I can make my HTC Desire HD ring from the HTC Sense website and I guess I could lock my phone if I lost it.

There is phone location screen which is unnervingly accurate down to the actual location in my own house possibly because the google car has snooped my WiFi MAC address and joined it using GPS.

I don't understand Footprints but I'm concerned it could be tracking/stalking app.

All my 504 contacts have uploaded from my HTC Desire HD into People which could be useful as a backup but I can't seem to access the all the contacts. People has now stopped working while I was testing it.

Messages has loaded some messages but none since 09/11/2010 and I can't find a way to refresh the list although I may have turned this feature off on my HTC Desire HD. It might be possible to send a mesage from HTC Sense using a desktop web browser.

HTC Hub is populated with some junk which is mainly ring tones and stuff. The available widgets are Word of the Day, Dice, Fortune Cookie and Translator which are frankly useless.

If HTC Sense doesn't work for you then you aren't missing anything as it seems pretty pointless and I'm not intending to make much use of it.

What Is HTC Sense?

Private cloud for your phone..Pretty much a backup state of your phone with some extra advanced features such as able to send text messages, call divert, wipe your phone, lock your phone, etc

Does It Work

Yes...Well mine does :)
