HTC thunderbolt screen quality

My friend has an evo 4g and i wasn't to impressed with the screen. I'm getting the thunderbolt for sure but will the screen look any better?

I hope so to, i know it has the same amount of pixels i just wonder if its the same screen. Maybe its just me but i didnt think it looked to good.

Just went to my Best Buy, and like six people in Mobile were all at the counter with accessories and something, I talked to them a little. The girl said one of them actually had it on them. I looked at her like o_O

He pulled it out and let me use it. The screen is great. Very vibrant. WAY better than the Evo.

I came from an X to a Thunderbolt. X screen is brighter but the Thunderbolt's colors seem to be a lot more vivid. Thunderbolt seems to be slightly better with viewing angles. All in all I don't think an X user would be disappointed with the screen. At most it would take a few minutes to get used to.

The screen is great. Vibrant colors, resolution is fine (people get carried away with that), viewing angles are good...

But it's not SAMOLED. Sitting by itself I thought it looked about the same until I put it next to my Fascinate. The Fascinate's screen is a little move vivid with most colors(with whiter whites, blacker blacks.)

But the T-Bolt's screen is more than suitable for the device. It does look good and is on par or better than most screens out there.

Colors are pretty good, they look very nice , even when compared to the Fascinates Super Amoled.

Can someone please help me to figure something out here?

I keep hearing two different explanations on this, and I want to be sure I have the right one.

This concerns the SLCD acronym and the SAMOLED acronym.

What does the "S" stand for?

I have heard many say it stands for SONY since that is who manufactures it, and I have heard many say it stands for SUPER.

Can someone clarify this for me?

Fascinate screen! Thats the comparison I was looking for. Not the Droid Wash Me out colors. Thats like comparing Atari to PS3 Any upgrade from the X screen is going to be worthy.

you are gonna have trouble looking at any type of screen in sunlight

I have no issues in direct sunlight on fascinate. Not that i am in direct sunlight much, to begin with. But i had no issues and it was a nice surprise. I ordered the TB. I hope i am not disappointed as the girlfriend will have my fascinate.

Has anyone tried looking at the screen with a pair of polarized sunglasses on yet?

I know with my Eris that I could barely make the screen out in landscape mode with my polarized shades on. I could see it perfect in portrait though.

Dude this is were it gets dicey! While in reg lite both screens are beautiful, TB holds its own, of course with a small edge to the Fascinate because of the Super Amo.
However,
In direct sunlite is where the Fascinate really hands the TB a beat down! There is no comparison, there is no contest! I was in my truck yesterday with the sunroof open, got a phone call, and I must say it was pretty tuff to see the screen with the brightness all the way up. Ive been in that same scenario with my Fascinate many times, and I can always see my screen crystal clear! Ohhh well, that's the trade off for speed and real 4G!
