Opinions on what? It looks like it's a rebranded Desire for a Canadian network...

Google

Was doing just that.

But with an S-AMOLED screen? (That's what the link says - the one 've shared) HTC, from what all of us know, decided to opt for the S-LCD over the regular AMOLED (due to shortages, blah blah blah...).

The S-AMOLED deal seemed too good to be true. Hence the question.

But the specs were put-up in Dec 2009 according to the link you supplied (before the AMOLED shortage) so they're not likely to include the SLCD change.

That's old info and some of it is inaccurate, such as the screen type, loudspeaker is not stereo, it does not have 3 UMTS bands, and the wifi does not have n protocol, just b and g. Finally, the "triumph" name was thought to be the Telus branded name, but it didn't fly and Telus used the Desire name instead.

Yep...

I must admit that I have never visited that site (PDA-whatever) before...

You're quite right, mate... So guess it's all hogwash. Phhhbt Telus. :P

htc havent "opted" for slcd
they are using this technology as there is a shortage of amoled from samsung
im pretty sure they will be using them again as and when they are made available as now their roms include both driver sets

Coming to think of it - yes. Hobson's choice.

I was pretty surprised to read that this to-be-released-in-Aug10 "Triumph" was equipped with the S-AMOLED.

Thought of getting all that clarified...

I am glad I have the slcd screen instead of the amoled, those are junk plain and simlpe, three weeks after I got my Nexus one the amoled screen was showing signs of Burn in on the screen and it really was crap, my slcd screen is just fine with me!!!!:)

No problems with burn here, but yes OLED screens are prone to burn (which I only recently learned).

I am careful with my screens though, so I am happy with the AMOLED. I prefer the vividness of OLED over SLCD

I guess the one I am waiting for will be SLCD. No other choice...

Never owned an (AM)OLED display equipped gadget. Ah well... Can't have everything. :)
