The reasons you're seeing better battery on the i*hone is a smaller screen, no 4G LTE capability, and no true multitasking. The first 2 reasons is why we didn't see the most recent i*hone with a larger screen and 4G capability, because they would have similar battery life to what we currently see from 4G android phones.
The absence of true multitasking is why the i*hone will always have an edge on android as far as battery life. Like I said in a post on another thread, an i*hone is like a netbook with Windows Starter, which has limited multitasking, hence better battery life. An android phone is like a Windows 7 laptop, you can execute more operations at the same time, but at the cost of said battery life.
Until either apple puts out a phone that has all of the capabilities of an android phone, or android manufacturers put out a phone with similar multitasking, 3G, and hardware as the i*hone, there will never be a way to truly see if apple is superior as some say, or if they're just limiting their device's capabilities (hardware, connectivitly, and multitasking) to make them seem like they perform better.
