Help HTC Weather Widget broken???

Well ...... a change today ........ at my home location it is now giving me the name of the nearest town (just a mile away) rather than just United Kingdom.

Still not like it was where it displayed the name of the small village I live in ........ but something has changed!

Just recieved a reply to my 2nd email from HTC...

" [FONT=&quot]Thank you for the reply, I have been doing some more investigations for you on the base of your answers and it appears that you are correct. What I will do now is to escalate this problem upwards and see if we can find a way to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. In order for me to escalate, I will require the following information please: Phone number: Postal Address: Serial Number: IMEI number: ROM: ROM Date: Operating System version (WinMob,Android): In the mean time please accept our thanks for bringing this to our attention. Thank you for contacting HTC."

I'm not going to say I told you so HTC.

Had the same email previously via kristen or kirsten.

All that happened was the support ticket got closed with no furher reply.

This is affecting ALL HTC phones, so they can't pretend they don't know about it

I have the same problem with my desire aswell the weather widget is only showing united kingdom. However my sister who has a legend has no problem at all and its shows canterbury (where we live).

Mine seems to be kind of working - Bristol, UK is showing as current but often drops the weather. Works OK for other cities. What is missing is the ability to add other locations that aren't in the list.

Any suggestions for an app that will display multiple locations as the stock one?

Well I rooted mine two days ago and the weather app is almost working, it seems to think my location is a town 12 miles away from my current location, but at least its better than the whole of the United Kingdom location!

I think they may have fixed it. Mine has also displayed UK for a couple of weeks but is displaying my local town this morning. Fingers crossed eh

I thought it was me being stupid until I came across this thread.

I'm not convinced it is fixed. Mine says "Current location" (which is better than UK as it has been displaying), but the weather forecast is for where I was last night, not where I am now.

Refreshing it might fix the problem, we'll see.

Mine has been flicking between bristol and united kingdom for a couple of days now, frequently when I dont even move out of my living room :p

They seem to be doing something. Mine keeps flicking between where I live and the city 6 miles away.

Mine seems to have gone back to my home town and has been that way all afternoon so far.

Anyone else's fixed?

My ticket got closed despite a fairly non conclusive response.

HTC Support model seems to be;

Log call
Respond to Call
Close Call

They do however ask to contact again if there are further problems.

Maybe that's what we all need to do .... re-log the call (maybe quote the original reference) and ask for the call to be escalated to someone who can offer a clearer explanation of what is going on.
Something on the HTC website would also be nice :D

My experience with HTC support is the same as you all.

Maybe the solution is to go to another weather app?

Are their more accurate ones?

Will we lose the Sense time/weather widget?

We need to find something else that works and then write HTC and tell them we are abandoning their faulty weather program.

Mine has been fixed!!

Ok i did cheat a little by rooting my Desire using the one click solution but the weather App now the town i am in and not just United Kingdom plus, and this is an added bonus i'm no longer dropping my data connection.

So my question is this. If HTC are saying it is an issue with the way a third party passes data how come the app works on other current HTC phones and also on rooted devices........

I'm in sunny Cardiff at the moment and the widget is working perfectly even changing to various areas of the city as I move aroun

I'd semi-noticed this problem occurring occasionally on my Desire but it usually sorted itself out within a few hours. However, it's now been showing no weather information for my auto-detected location for a few days now.

It does show the name of the location I am in (currently 'Worthing') so it certainly knows where I am, but does not show any weather data at all.

It's not the biggest problem in the world, but it is kind of annoying!

EDIT: For what it's worth, I'm on Orange but have debranded my phone using a gold card and am now running stock HTC software.

I've got a HTC Desire on Virgin Mobile. My local village appeared until 3 weeks ago and now it's either UNITED KINGDOM or CURRENT LOCATION. My work location however is displayed fine. Something has changed. I've logged this with HTC but they won't accept that there's a problem.
