Root HTCdev get identifier token

yeah your phone needs to be in fastboot for the fastboot command to work.

have you tried the htc sync that is in the guide?

i have seen this before, trying to see if i cn locate the thread for it.

My htc sync was currently updated and java is updated fully as well, so that's why I figured going with the newest sdk was the better option...

I deleted the sync program and left the driver's though...

@Ocn, what would happen, if I download the files listed, and run the same command from my newly created Android Folder, on my fully rooted phone? Would it give me an unlock code?
My thought is, if I take the exact files he is using, and test it on my phone. However, I am already fully rooted with Revolutionary.

it should give you a code back, but i'm not sure as you have a different bootloader. never really tried. i do not have an evo on hand at the moment though.

Should there only be the 3 files in the android folder? (adb.exe, adbwinapi.dll, and fastboot.exe)

How long should it take to give me the identifier token?

Also, I see a adbwinapiUSB.dll, do I need this for what I'm trying to do?

When I first started I used everything that was listed in the forum here.. and then I decided to use the links for what the HTC Devs had on their site...

you only need the three that is listed in the guide. even on the HTCdev site tells you need the same three files, but you have to pull it from the sdk tools. i have it pulled for you. but either way is fine.

It should only take 3.45 seconds....as far as that adbwinapiUSB.dll file, I dont think so....drag it out of the folder and try it.

I was thinking about that, I wonder if the files on the website have been updated since ocn posted his files in the guide, but I really dont think they changed, since the files ocn posted have worked for many.

You have it pulled for me??

I have a screen shot of the files in the android folder..

I think the files here for sdk are version 12.... on the sdk website it's version 20.. and I didn't see the fastboot file in that version the htcdev site linked me to a download for sdk version 13 if the current version didn't have it available

it should not matter what versions they are. i used the old ones and it rooted my phone no issues. it is working it just seems like it is having trouble retrieving the token for some reason. it is as if something is blocking or slowing down the process. i know i have seen this, but a lot of people have issues with the token and the HTCdev site. it is a pain weeding thru them.

and i meant i have the files pulled in the guide. all the file that you need are in the guide.

Alright...Could this be the issue? I got this when installing the sdk platform tools

nope it should not be an issue, but it is a possibilty. the server is needed to get you files downloaded. now is this the reason for why you can get the full token identifier it could be. tuff to say.

usb debugging or fastboot in the development... would that matter if they're on or off?
At this point, dont think it matters...just after you root should you have usb debugging checked and as fastboot would probably be unchecked when you checked your bootloader version at the very very beginning.

no it does not matter as your phone will be in fastboot. when your phone is on that is when you need those.

sorry i'm still searching for the same issue that you are having. someone here posted the very same issue. i can't seem to find it yet.

I'm going to do a factory reset..again..and try to run it from there... I think I did run unrevoked after the factory reset and maybe that made a CHANGE i'M UNAWARE OF... only 2 contacts to lose.. lol

It did the exact same thing... I don't know what else to do.. I actually went back to the original thread and downloaded those specific files and used those.. the factory reset was a fail.. lol.. I hope you find that post..

yeah the search here for AF sucks. i'm still looking. also i see if i can bring in some more brains to think this thru. please tune in a bit.

i'll BRB.

Alrighty, I'll stay tuned... is there a way that a reply to a comment in a thread notifies me someway..., I've been periodically refreshing this page to see if there's any new posts..
