Try uninstalling z4root and re-installing and try again.

You can also download a terminal emulator. Type su. If the $ turns into a # you are rooted. If its the first time you ran that app, you should get a superuser popup asking you to give the app permision.

OK, I did the re install, I can't get a app to work called boot changer, can you think of any better apps to change my boot video, and sound.

I cant get root explorer but i did get another file manager now i need to know where to put the boot animation video... can you tell me what folder.

Do you have another one to take it's place already?

Looking at the info for ESFile Explorer, I don't think it supports root operations.

PS EStrongs does support ROOT ops. I have done it but know i have a new problem, i have a blank boot when i start the system... this is just dumb, i should have just stuck with the other boot lol. any thoughts? i still have the same sound and the sound works just fine its just the video that doesnt work... im putting the bootanimation.zip in the data/local. is that were its supposed to go? it worked there last time, and did i maybe delete a file that i need for these types of files to work properly?

Can you take a screen shot of it so we can see what you are talking about, specifically? No...not the blank boot screen...but the folder with the data in it. Maybe someone with a Methro phone will look at theirs to see how it differs.

Download free 'Screenshot' from the Market. Very easy.

Have you taken a look at this info?

It might have the solution for your problem. :)

[BOOT ANIMATION] The Droids - xda-developers

Hey Blaster! Thanks for the info. I have to find the thread but there is a girl on this forum who will make a custom boot for you if you give her your animation file. LOL

I'll find it and link to it here.

I do believe you need to unzip that file first?

Not from what I've read. You copy the bootanimation.zip file into the named directory.

There are two possible directories you can put this in:

/system/media
/data/local

Allegedly, putting one in /data/local will take precedence over an existing one in /system/media, but that may not always work. In some cases, you may have to overwrite the file in /system/media with the identically-named new one.

And it's always a good idea to backup the original bootanimation.zip file, just in case.

Check the vid in "i found this video useful" the description has a link for boot animation installer. Simple and preloaded.

since my last un-educated post here, i got androotfile, and got everything working perfectly, and it's fast and easy...

Now to find boot animations, and sounds...
