just put UPDATE.APP into dload folder ...move to sd card and press install via SD card.

Need to back up 1st , because it likely to be phone reset...

Just an FYI everyone-- the B116 update is now out. You can check via your phone's settings.

Whenever my download completes and tries to restart and install the update, it always fails. (B115 failed too). So I'm just waiting for Huawei to post it on their website so I can download the complete file and update it that way.

Do other people's phones fail when restarting? It verify's the package, but for some reason I always get some E:\ error message.

I am in the same boat..Today, I factory reset to update, and when I factory reset. My Huawei Home stopped working ...very frustrated..

I have Australian version with google app store already installed by default.
Can I just follow the root phone instruction only?
Do you think it will damage/erase my other stuffs such as goog app store?
If you own Australian version and already root, please let me know your experience?

hi everyone, i was in china and placed my order for the mate on v mall on the day of its launch....now i'm back in singapore...love the phone to bits but found that it's been one problem solving exercise after another....literally spent hours upon hours trying to configure the phone to my liking...
finally managed to root it after 3-4 days (android noob here)...finally got google play store (unfortunately, google play store has stopped) to work after changing it from personal to system app (/system/app mover)...took me another 3 days to figure that out...
took me another few days to figure out how to swap internal storage with sd card (use external 2 internal app...put sdcard, sdcard2, last 2 digits 97 in the settings)...i now have 58gb of internal storage...
now i've run into yet another problem...i bought an xbox360 controller to play games like max payne, gangstar rio, etc...
but when i plug my usb otg cable, the controller does not register...other phones seem to automatically detect any game controller...the mouse and keyboard worked perfectly and instantly with the otg cable but my 360 controller cannot be detected...
i downloaded USB/BT joycenter but it fails to detect any controller...the developer says that usb api is not enabled by huawei...
question is has anyone successfully connected any game controller to the mate...if so, how did you do it?
any help will be much appreciated....as i said, i love the phone but i'm literally exhausted from trying to figure out how to unlock its full capability....

p.s. surat, i don't think rooting the phone will affect google play store at all because it has been installed as a system app...cheers...

For anyone who still stuck upgrading firmware :
1.download (red button) at url below and copy .zip to your sd card

2. backup your data from setting menu (not tested yet , not confirmed all apps will usable after upgraded)
3. turn your phone into recovery mode , or press Update via SD card in About phone -> System updates
4.Root your phone , install google service and play store by most top thread
5.If google still not working...back to recovery mode , wiped data and factory rest ...press all available meaningful menu as you can and restart again ,,,it should be ok for now

ps, you can use "Rom manager" to enter recovery mode.

Oh, never mind. I was able to update it to 116 with UPDATE.APP into dload folder and choosing "update from SD card"

Another options, which work pretty well.
Go to ROM -

I did up the ROM by k_l_ALL without any problem.
Google translate can help those who don't understand Chinese.

Thanks for the link. After banging head for hours ttrying o make Google Play to work, this turned out to be the simplest solution. Install the drivers on the computer (first post in this thread), put the phone in debugging mode, download the Rom from above link, and click on .bat file. Simplest solution

Yes. If you root your phone, you will not be able to install OTA. That happens to me also. You need to download the whole Firmware and install it via sd card

Hey guys, I just want to share my experience with all of Ascend Mate 6.1 users and it will help all of you especially the one's who bought from China or Chinese B11(X) firmware that have problems in installing Play Store..

ok let's start,.. Im from Philippines and just bought today Ascend Mate 6.1 that have firmware of
Chinese = Ascend Mate MT1-U06,Android 4.1,Emotion UI,V100R001CHNC00B116, (click that for the link)

And I notice that it already have Play Store installed and already rooted which means that you need to root it first and install Play Store manually (in which the store already done that before they sell it)

And I navigate/explore the phone, I noticed that it have a lot of Chinese apps that you can't use because I don't understand them so for me it useless and just eats space on the phone that have default available phone memory of more or less 4GB.

After that, I browse the official site of Huawei.com and I set region to english because China is different in which you can see CHN in the B116 version and then I saw it has a official release of General version 1.13GB May 20, 2013 update

because it has a lot of language support worldwide like: English, Indonesian, Malaysian, Dansk, Deutsch, Spanish, France/French, Italy/Italiano, and more european language, Russian, Arabiac, Chinese..

Unlike the CHN-B116 Chinese Firmware, only have chinese and english..


knowing that this General Version B112 Firmware might cause problem or damage to my phone, I still took the risk and download this 1.13GB (it contains UPDATE.APP and huawei .pdf files screenshots and explanation on how to update in sd card)Again, my Mate 6.1 have Chinese B116 firmware and I downloaded the Official release General Version B112 Firmware and put the UPDATE.APP on the dload folder of sd card and select Local Update /or SD Card update..

And after some minutes.. VIOLA! it was a SUCCESSFUL UPDATE! and everything/all apps are working fine.

And the most beautiful part is..

It's already have Play Store that you don't need to root your phone and install it manually, also it has no chinese bloatware apps (YES! all the chinese apps are gone and everything is useful now) And supports a lot of language..

And One last important thing.. I just sharing my experience to everyone here.. So, incase there might some problems or damage occur to your Mate 6.1 following what I've done.. Don't blame me for what happened..

1. Did you install root assistant? Then just open the app and check ROOT option. the super user icon may be created on your other screen than the home screen.

2. I have also encountered the stop functioning error message but after a few reboots, It worked or you can try to install the google play store V 4.0.

I bought this whopped phone in China. I followed all your steps for installing the play store, even downloaded the latest version from androidpolice (4v). It keeps crashing when I start the app. The I dig many websites on the web, even tried to move boths apks to system/app folder using RF Explorer. It wont let me move those files.

I dont know what else to do.

I truly appreciate a fast advice, because this is a present for my dad who is leaving tomorrow back to Spain.

Requirement:
- Huawei Ascend Mate phone stock
- Driver for the phone. If you don't have it down load it https://www.dropbox.com/s/4qoacn4hqqw9h5v/WinDriver.exe

Root your phone:

- Enable ADB debugging on your phone
Go to Settings -> Developer options - > USB debugging and turn it on
- Download the package https://www.dropbox.com/s/0pblr115dr2l4zt/MATE_ROOT.zip

- Unzip the package you downloaded and click on "open it ROOT_MATE)

- An MS DOS window appears then click any key to continue

your phone will reboot and wait for the MS window said "successful and enjoy it" and click any key to finish.


- Download this file https://www.dropbox.com/s/omgdr4zkn224l9q/RootAssistantV2.0.apkand manually install it ( You must enable Unknown sources from your phone setting in order to install this file)

- After installing the file you will see the app with the wrench image click on it.

And you will see the Root option untick, tick it

Then the super user icon will show on your phone. That's it.


Install Google Play service on Huawei Ascend Mate:

Download the following zip file https://www.dropbox.com/s/ubql19m4k7y15ab/play_store_huawei.zip and extract them, then copy them to the internal storage or external SD card on your phone.

Using the file manager and go to the folder where you copied the extracted file to your phone. Manually install the Google play service first then Google play store. Now you can access the Google play store.

Just forget Chinese firmwares. Just install the international firmware and everything works
