Yeah, it's a concept video... Meaning it was a conceptual design.
Know how many people said that when they first heard that LG was going to make a Nexus?
Quite a few.
Yeah.. But LG is potentially boot unlockable/more Rootable than Huawei, they pride themselves on the security of such too.
But it's a Nexus device and by their very nature, they're unlockable. I'm pretty sure Google wouldn't have partnered with them if they wouldn't allow the bootloader to be unlocked.
Then thank goodness
Even aside from the Nexus, I predict great bootloader unlocking joy moving forward with the US models.

Huawei has a factory unlock tool for bootloaders. Doesn't apply to every model but they're moving in the right direction.

Is this Huawei phones as sold and subsidised by US carriers, like Verizon? Because AFAIK they're not bootloader locked at all, the ones I've seen anyway.
Everything sold in the US has a locked bootloader, including the Nexus. The issue is whether or not you can unlock it yourself easily here. With Huawei, HTC or Motorola, unless carrier restricted due to subsidies, you contact the manufacturer for your unlock code. That's how I've unlocked mine, it's no big deal, takes two minutes. I could almost do it in my sleep.
Verizon and Sprint are discontinuing long contracts and subsidies. Sprint never cared about bootloader unlocking, Verizon is the opposite and rarely allowed it. No idea how that's going to change moving forward.
While Huawei is the fourth largest smartphone maker and third largest growing in sales in China, very few people in the US have ever heard of them. To the best of my recollection, they've never sold a subsidized phone here - but they have sold models without allowing the bootloader to be unlocked and that's the basis for concern.
For example, you could import the Huawei P8 for use here, but you won't find it supported on their US website for unlocking.
I'm surprised that they sell all of their phones in China unlocked, but locked for the rest of the world.
And of course for those new to the discussion, bootloader unlocking has zero to do with carrier unlocking.
They're locked, but how locked, they haven't done anything to appease any carriers here, and is usually quite straight forward for many of them, but most information is in Chinese of course.

You said previously that they're not locked at all - and now that they're locked but how locked.
At this point I don't know what you mean at all.
I've noticed over the last few years that Root/Recoveries for Huawei (in US) are almost nonexistent.. I hope this Nexus is a turnaround for that or there's gonna be a lot of unhappy Nexus Owners.. Especially since LP by itself is ridiculous to try to Root.
In order to see recovery, the first thing that has to happen is a qualified dev taking an interest. That's almost certainly going to happen for the Nexus - whether it will for other models remains to be seen.
As for Lollipop being ridiculous to try to root - sure you haven't crossed back over to discussing root via an exploit?
Rooting with custom recovery is easy, custom recovery installation on an unlocked bootloader is not difficult.

Keep in mind that many Huawei's of the past have used Kirin boards. Your run of the mill tinkering/aspiring recovery developer might not get that one right. Indications are that Huawei is moving toward Snapdragon in some cases which would bring a lot more people into the mix for cwm/twrp recovery development.
The Nexus is a guarantee for recovery and root within hours of release if not prior to official release regardless of the board. The pros will take care of that one.
Exactly. The Huawei P8L uses the Snapdragon 615 - with the advent of actually putting the RF transceivers in the SoC, not just the modems, the new Snapdragons are too appealing to not use in the lower priced phones.
