So, I'm on my third phone. I've been trying to note commonalities among my previous two phones and others' experiences posted here and I came up with many insights but one hypothesis I want to share with the community.
When restoring applications with ADB, I got errors and things didn't work properly. So, I went in with root explorer and overwrote or added files.
On the first phone, MetroPCS Easywifi would not work properly, though it was installed and running in the background.
On the second phone, LG Home worked but the app drawer would not scroll or would scroll very very very slowly -- taking a minute or more to go from one page to the next.
It seems that dumping system .apks and .odexs and doing a factory reset does not clear all changes made.
My hypothesis is this: I think something is happening in the app folder and I believe it may be best to not touch these applications with Ti (no freezes, no deletes). Another method exists.
A program exists called "autostarts". I used it on my M. It was a godsend; it is much like msconfig in windows. You can go to your start orb (menu) and type "msconfig" -- without quotation marks -- in the "Search for programs and files" input field. You will see a tab that says "startup". Much of your PC bloatware can be controlled from this tab. Autostarts is a lot like that. This would prevent the bloatware from running at system start, and at other times. The new version will work on ICS: https://market.android.com/details?...vbS5lbHNkb2VyZmVyLmFuZHJvaWQuYXV0b3N0YXJ0cyJd
I've had no problems with autostarts that I know of. Would this be an acceptable way to manage bloatware without risking problems in the app folder?
