Root i cant find su file ?!?

i was doing the htc.dev method of rooting my evo and everything worked out fine i unlocked my bootloader i flashed and installed my phone with amon thing and now im trying to transfer the su file to my sd card to flash and officially root my phone..i mounted it as the e drive and it says its there when i move the file over and i also have astro file manager on my phone and it says there when i check but when i go into recovery on my bootloader to flash it is nowhere to be found ?!?!? any help and advice will be much appreciated..it says to not put the file in a folder just on the card and im pretty sure thats what i did

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so you have the su file on the root of the card, correct? that means on the top level of the card, no folders. you can scroll down the menu with the vol up and vol down keys. what recovery do you have?
 
yes correct i dont have the file in any folders its just there as soon as you open the drive..i didnt know there you could scroll up and down but i only have about 4-5 folders so i shouldnt have to right ? and im not sure what type of recovery i have i just select the recovery option when im in the bootloader screen

out of curiosity did you extract the file? that maybe your issue. keep the file zipped.

also it will say at the bottom of the screen what recovery you have. if you have amon ra then it should say supersonic-ra2.3.

and yes you can scroll up and down with the vol keys also once you find the file you select it with the power button.
 
ok maybe that was my problem i didnt know i had to keep the file zipped !lol ill give it a try again and yes the bottom of my screen in the recovery is
"Build : RA-supersonic-v2.3"....thanks for the advice !!

yeah from now on do not eztract any files unless told to do so. most file that you flash will need to be zipped.

and yes that is amon ra2.3
