if you have software 6.01.605.5,you need to downgrade. i have a guide here:

but youre on your own using a mac. you can borrow a windows laptop or desktop,and root with that, or this link may help you to get the android sdk running so you can follow the guide in the thread linked above:

the one benefit of a mac, is you wont need to mess with installing drivers
one tip i have for comuicating with folks on the forum,is to be specific as you can about things like software version numbers. things change and exploits become patched,and sometimes firmwares are incompatible. it is often very important to know version you are on(or were on) when troubleshooting. as such, "6******" ddoes not tell us much. its also a good idea to know your hboot version number and baseband... generally the more info you can give can help us help
