Help I dropped it... repair advice needed.

I actually dropped my nexus 4 today and the back glass is.... INTACT! The glass made it through a sizable drop, but I do have a pretty sizable gouge in the silver trim on the bottom. Does anybody know of a compound I could use to fill it in and a type of paint that will match and blend with the factory paint? Thanks for any help.

Chances are with something like that, if you start messing with it you will only make it worse.

I would just leave it be. :/

Trust me, it's a pretty sizable gouge. Even a half ass repair job with putty and paint would look better than what's there now. Only thing is I don't know what kind of compound to use to fill it in and what kind of paint to use to match it.

You'd probably be better off looking for a replacement OEM case than filling and colour matching to be honest.

Or put it in a bumper...

If it's below the chrome trim you can just get a new battery cover off eBay for 50.

If you really want to try and fix it, look for a plastic or synthetic compound online. Depending on the consistency of the compound you might get away with no having to sand it down.

But there's plenty of plastic repair compounds online so just browse around. I'm sure there's plenty of articles on how to repair plastic dings too.

I was trying to take a picture of myself (wish there were still camera buttons) and had the phone turned around and was trying to tap the onscreen camera button when I fumbled. The damage is on the silver trim only. The glass in front and the soft touch is flawless...just the trim.
