How do I add a picture to a post that is on my computer?

In the "Reply to thread" window, there's a paperclip icon on the top line of the menu bar. Click on that and you'll get the "Manage Attachments" sub-window - use one of the "Browse..." buttons to find the file on your local system and upload it to the site.

Once you've done this the file will be available to attach to your post from the drop-down arrow next to the "Manage Attachments" icon previously mentioned.

I had the same confusion and someone here led me to using Photobucket. Works okay, but I still think it should be easier in-house.

I use photobucket too. I copy the image link then paste that in the post. This puts the big picture right in your post and no one has to tap on it like they do with an attachment.

I had to ask this same question myself after awhile. It did kind of make me feel like a noob which btw is not a bad thing around here unlike in another forum I could name that starts with an X. :dalek:
