I didn't think it was that bad, and that my reply took some of the edge off it,but fair enough. I'll try to watch it...

I've heard of these types of jokes from amphibs and carriers. It seems that marines were more likely to fall for it. No one fell for it on my destroyer. If someone was standing around for too long somewhere, they got interrogated :P "What are you doing?" "why are you just slacking off here?" etc.

We did manage to get people going on wild goose chases for items that didn't exist, though. Like a water hammer and a cable stretcher. I once got a guy looking around all the electronic shops asking for a 1 megafarad capacitor.

I used a similar tactic at an amusement park, there was a new ride, but it was covered up except for an open door, stood in front of it for 10 minutes, by that time at least 10 more people started to to line up behind me. came back by that area 30 minutes later and there was still a line of at least 25+ people

Marines has a flightline? WHo knew:p

My fav was sending the NUB to base ops and ask for the keys to the bomber so we could start the engines.

Am I to understand that those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked?

The hijinx in Army AIT increased manifold over BCT, to the point that our platoon was rife with distrust. We were all greenhorns, but anybody transferred over from another platoon for whatever reason was fair game for being told the First Shirt wanted him to march his old platoon right after reveille.

The poor sap would be out there getting yelled at by the drill sergeant the next morning. :D

Haha! I used to work in base ops but never heard that one! (and yes we have flight lines.... We have 8 air stations!
