I found the BEST screen protector for the droid!

Syntrix: Why would the plastic hard case or the phone be "done for" if you get anything inside from your pocket? Can't you just remove the case and wipe it with a micro fiber cloth?

I haven't had that problem with the hard plastic case. It is a pretty tight fit. So I wonder if what you are saying depends on the fit. Although, I conceive the possibility of that happening.

He's not talking about a hard plastic case, he's talking about hard plastic screen protectors. The kind that use a static cling to attach to screens.

I put one of these on my iPod 5.5G 3 years ago and it's absolutely fine. I put 3M/Zagg on my Droid. It's just fine too.

By the way, I find that having the screen protector on makes it MUCH easier to slide across the touch screen. When it was bare glass, if I pressed down even slightly, the friction would make it hard to swipe.

Yea I'm still going to be buying the Zagg. I've used several of them on several devices and theres no need to go and try anything else. I actually prefer the slightly less smooth better grip that their covers provide a user. As well they do very well with fingerprinting and not looking like hell with fingerprints on it.

Fabolous:

Where did you purchase your Droid?

Did you have Best Buy install the Zagg for you? If so did they do it right the first time? Any bubbles? Does it diminish from the quality of the screen?

My idea is this:

Use a Zagg Invisible Shield or a similar product all over the phone, but not on the screen.

On the screen, use the simple VZW screen protector (not the privacy protector) or a comparable product (hopefully one that works just as well as the VZW one but that covers all the nav keys at the bottom as well).

I got my Droid at Walmart.

I don't have Zagg on the Droid. I installed it myself on my previous phone, the BB Tour. It was quite a PITA, but the protection is superb.

For my Droid, I am using the following product:
Clear Mobile Phone, Ipod, Digital Camera, and Computer Protectors

except that I bought from them on eBay for $9.99. It is the exact same material as my Zagg protector at 1/3 the price. The installation was easier because of bigger pieces, but still requires water (or if you prefer, water mixed with some baby shampoo).

So far so good. It has had about 48 hours to dry so all the bubbles are out except for the very bottom edge of the screen.

At first glance, there's no way you could tell it was there.

Not sure what your problem with the Zagg is... it's perfect in every way and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Can't beat that

Droid Screen Protector - Only cover the LCD screen but it have a smooth touch to it when you use the phone.

Invisible shield is good because it wrap around the entire phone but there this half smooth and sticky touch to it. Hm.. how should I explain this...

Is like a rubber feeling.... I should say.

Myself, I have iPhone 3Gs. When I the first I got the phone, the first thing I did is go buy Invisible shield that cost me around $40 included installation. When I using my iphone, the invisible shield made a bit little hard to use, for instance when you try to slide your finger thru the app it make harder... With this happening it may affect you too since the droid is also touch screen.

Anyway afterward, I got my iPhone replace due some issue of the phone. I didn't place the Invisible shield back on but I have clear screen protector on. When I am using my iPhone now it makes it easier and faster to navigate around the phone and using the app.

It is up to you, to see which one you want and like.

Good recommendation for clear screen protector for Droid is: http://edigisquad.com/Motorola-Droid-A855-Screen-Protector-p128.html

For Invisible shield of course www.zagg.com

Hey Fab , does the 3M one cover the screen all the way down over the buttons??

Yes. It may even be a millimeter too long, as it goes OVER the ridge at the bottom. I have the top of the protector within microns of the top edge, so that's not the issue.

If you get it, I would suggest you cut off 1mm from the bottom.

The back pieces are perfect though.

Thanks. the price is right but I dont think I wanna do the full body this time. It drove me nuts on my Touch Pro2 and this device is so sexy already I hate to alter the looks at all.

I have used zagg on all of my phones in the past and ipods. And this time i wanted to try something different. I like the zagg products but its pain in the a** to put it on. And searching through youtube videos to see if there is anything else good out there. I came cross wrapsol, it's similar to zagg but i heard its easy to put on and it's gave an better feel to your product after put it on. There is couple of videos on youtube that compares both of them together. Just search "wrapsol" in you tube if you want to see. I order my and should be here Monday an i will let you guys know how it is.

Ghost armor. Get it installed at best buy. $19 for armor and install. Rated better then zagg, which they also will install.

I seem to post this everywhere. Get Ghost Armor. They have it at best buy and will install it for you. $19 for skin and install, rated better than zagg products.

Fabolous or anybody: I just purchased the Zagg from BB. Here is my Best Buy Zagg Installation story:

I had exchanged my Droid for a new one at BB. So I gave them my brand new phone without the original screen protector removed to the guy to have the Zagg installed at BB. There was a young guy and a young girl working in the store. I saw them giggling and messing around before they helped me. When they started to help me the young guy was still smiling at the girl. So, when I told him I wanted the Zagg installed he got more serious and his countenance changed. :) The next thing I ask him if he is going to spray my phone. He said Yes. I explained about what Zagg says about not spraying the phone. So, he cooperates to not do that. He doesn't wash his hands first. He doesn't ask me to turn off the device or remove the battery. Their using a squeegee that doesn't appear to be clean. The spray bottle was about 1/4 full and who knows how old. I'm noticing that he is not trying to just hold it by the corner and is making contact somewhat underneath the Zagg. Because he knows that I don't want water in my phone he tries to squeegee it upside down. Which is cool I guess out of respect. Then he gets nervous and thinks that he messed up. Turns out the girl smiling at him it appears was the one who really knew what she was doing. So, he says: "she's better at this, why don't let you her do it". I agreed to let her do it. I didn't say it, but it was nerving that she just didn't offer to do it in the first place and let him do it. I will ask if the person is experienced from now on. She seemed to know what she was doing. She didn't wash her hands. She tried to repair the job he did, but couldn't. It got on my nerves, because these installations should be the easiest when the original screen cover is first removed, now the phone has been introduced to dust. She opened a new Zagg and started the install. She sprayed to phone with not much more then a mist, which was not bad. She lined it up perfectly. She did appear to also make some contact (not as much though) with the underneath of the Zagg. When she was done, it appeared she did a good job. When the Droid light was off I could see this mist / adhesive underneath. I could also see what looked like some drip runs. She said the let it sit for 48 hours and this should be gone. She stated that you can use the phone now, but just don't put it in your pocket or an enclosed area so he can air out. So, I hardly used it afterwards, and let it sit until the next morning. I continued to use it little and keep the phone in an open area. I did though use it on the multimedia dock for my clock. 48 hours later I still basically see the same adhesive / mist look and the drip runs underneath the droid, albeit maybe not quite as visible, but visible when you have the phone off. It almost looks the same. Also, when you you put it on a white page on the phone you see the rainbow type micro grainy adhesive texture. There is also a two line defects that I have heard come standard on Zagg. This produces a slightly distracting two rainbow lines that are most obvious on lighter screen pages. I also think people need to explain better when they refer to this orange peel look. There is nothing orange about it. It's referring to the texture of an orange peel. I also, found rubbery texture didn't hurt the screen scrolling. It was suprising that it was just a different feel. The rubbery texture actually helps the accuracy of your scrolling across the screen. Any Thoughts?

Paragraphs please! A wall of text, no matter how full of information, is still a wall of text.

And your experience is exactly why I won't be installing any screen protectors.

i'm weary of have anything spread on my phone for one simple reason. One of the first things VZW looks for when you return a phone because of it failing in some way is water / liquid damage. If for some reason or some how any of this liquid got inside the phone and VZW could tell your warranty could go bye bye

Yeah. True. That's why I'm trying to make up my mind quickly about returning it to Best Buy and get another phone before my 30 days is up By the way did you know that at Best Buy right now you have until January 31st to return your Droid (or other products) because of Christmas? Sweet.

After futzing around with a Zagg full body kit and a "2 for the price of 1" Phantom Skinz set, I've ended up w/ Nidisa's suggestion of Zagg full body less the screen, and nothing on the glass.

The Phantom showed little rainbowy scratches from application that didn't appear to autoheal and had bubbles that broke up the image and weren't going away. That had to go.

And the Zagg on the screen really increase the coefficients of static and dragging friction noticeably.

I did not like the tougher-to-drag screen. However, I do like the "harder to slip out of your hand or out of holster" Zagg increase in tackiness for holding the device. Yes, the Zagg on the sides is less slippery than the rubber body covering.

One thing- the Zagg kit does not include anything to cover that outermost thin surface around the edge of the phone, the surface broken by the on/off and volume controls. That's going to be the edge that would hit first on a drop, and I'm thinking of trying to put some leftover Zagg substance on at least 2 of the corners to sticky it up a little and provide some small drop protection.

I worried a little about the actual screen, but the joy of frictionless "flipping" to get to the side desktops is real, and I did see the video guy whomp on the glass w/ keys and only succeed in nicking the non-glass edge; the glass held up. Smudges wipe right off.

So, if I keep the beastie in its holster, I think I've got a good chance of keeping it in good shape. May get some insurance anyway...

You'll probably be fine with that... someone posted a video here of a dude swiping his car key over the glass repeatedly and it didn't scratch. He was returning the phone for some reason but did the test before taking it back :p
I had a screen protector on, but didn't like how it reduced the "touch" sensitivity. Then I saw the scratch test video, now, I think I'm safe. I'm no ways near that hard on my phones compared to what that dude did with his keys.

My local BB doesn't carry that.

Im starting to think that my area is a test market for it. They have an entire ghost armor center where they do the install and it has become a peice of the store, almost like geek squad. Even so, you can by them on there website and there are some online coupons for discounts. It comes with an install kit with spray and a towel to help you install clean. I know the screen by itself is nice, i just dont want to get gunk on my glass screen, its just an extra layer of protection from my dirty hands.
