I got laid off

Well, for what it's worth, even though i'm relatively new, i'm in a similar situation myself right now, i still have a job for the time being.. But i'm in a completely different city, away from my entire family and all of my friends. I'm living with my as of two-weeks ago(on my bloody birthday of all things) Ex-Girlfriend. so now i'm in a position, where i have to find another job back in my hometown and find a way back to everything i know. not nearly as dire as yourself, but i definitely empathise, I hope everything works out for you.
Ouch, I dunno. Living with your ex might just be worse =p

... (sometimes you have to jump out of the window too, lol)...

ROFL :p

Sorry to hear that, SC. I showed up for work once and there was a note on the (locked) door that the company was closed and we were all fired. At least your company tried. Good luck - I'm sure you'll hit the ground running!

OMG that's awful!!

Yeah that happened here a few years back. The cabinet maker that employed about 350 workers locked their doors without telling anyone. They showed up for work one morning and there was a chain on the door, I don't think they even got a note!

Closing a huge manufacturing outfit like that isn't a decision made at 9:00 pm the night before they lock the doors, something like that would be known for some time. Not filling the employees in about it so that they can brace themselves.... well there should be a law against that sort of thing.

:/ sucks to hear that, Sweet Chaos, but I bet you'll find another job in no time :)

Reordere, love the story :) Very touching and it's one of that teaches you to really never give up.

What a terrible thing that happened.
The only good thing is that you are now a little wiser.

that's unfortunate S C, next time: public sector job! :p

nah, seriously good luck, who knows might be for the better
maybe

That's crappy. I went through the same type thing back in September and ending up moving back home where I grew up and still haven't found a job making the money that I was used too. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your situation... There's something better for you out there now you have the opportunity to look for it. I'll keep you in my prayers. :)

I know it's tough right now, SC, but in my experience it really is true that when one door closes another one opens. The hard part is that sometimes it takes a while for that new door to open!

But even right now look on the bright side--you were in a job [at the restaurant] where your days were unpleasant. Had you not left for the other opportunity, how much longer would you have lasted there? And even if you were still there now, would you be happy? Sure, you'd be getting a steady paycheck--that wasn't paying the bills--but would it be worth it?

So this opportunity didn't work out--and it totally sucks the way it unfolded--but it sounds like you're motivated to get on with finding a new job and I'm sure something good will come along soon. All the best in your job search!

Hey S C... I am really sory to hear what happened to you :(

But I have a true story to tell... there was once a man called Peter Mageza who is a South African.

He was born during the Apartheid years in South Africa... sadly due to his colour he was oppressed just because he was a black man.

He lived in extreme poverty during the Apartheid years... he was punished for just being a black man...

He wasn't allowed to do basically anything but be a slave for next to nothing...

If I recall he fled to the UK if I rememmber correctly...and I don't remember all the details however he is now today a multi millionaire and literally worked really really hard and went from "Rags to Riches..."

He works for ABSA bank in South Africa in the Motor Department and is very successful today right now if i recall. :)

If only I could find that article for you I have been trying to search it for you!

Damn I still can't find it now I found it somewhere a long time ago.

AHHH!

Don't worry... I found it ;)

Here you go:

PETER MAGEZA FROM RAGS TO RICHES, AFRICAN MILLIONAIRE | The African Millionaire - Become a Millionare This Year, African Millionaire Club

He was very poor at one point but worked very hard to become something the world could look up to. He defied all the odds against him!

I am 120% confident the same is set for you if you are positive about things! You never know... :)

I hope this helps you...

Keep well

"Kid, look at me. You see me here everyday and you never see me frown. You know why? Even if all the bad things happen to you, you gotta always be happy because when they take your smile away from you, then you really have nothing."

+ 1 Remordere

This is most probably the most important thing in life I could ever think of without any regrets at all.

Happiness is everything.

There is a famous saying I have heard in life not too sure who said it but here it is:

***The Stronger the wind... the Stronger the tree...***

This is soooo true.

I think this is how you should look at this one... you will come out stronger and I know in time you will look back and smile :)

Keep well

Regards

Wayne
