Root I have a question concerning software update

Newbie
So I went ahead and rooted my lg motion. I ran the bloatware removal and have DLed and installed cwm. I'm currently still deciding on what i would like to flash.

Back to the topic at hand. I received and Dled a software update recently. I have not installed it yet.

My fear is I might brick my phone if I install it. Is that a possibility? Or will the software update not conflict with a rooted phone?

Can you link me which cwm you installed? Because there is a version where you must install an app to go into cwm and a version where you don't need an app.

i can bootloop my Lg Motion
i just repeatedly tap the back arrow and it will go into recovery
I used the 2nd version of the app to install the recovery
then deleted the app,it leaves the files in your system

Since the speeds increased does that mean less battery life ?Phone gets hot like before even though i took most of the apps off plus switched the sensors off rhino mentioned should save battery wouldnt mind switching back since i was having absolutly no problems before just got excited when i saw system update hopefully the update wasnt to throtle me cause i need my hotspot i use the hell out of it . I look at it as if im getting my moneys worth since i use to pay 50 a month and got crappy 4g for like 3 years so if they try to act funny im going to let them know that their 4g sucks and i feel riped off to get the heat off me . Gotta admit ive been loving this free hopspot tether app . Even though other cell companies offer better service nothing beats unlimited free tether for up to as many devices with speeds of 1.8 mb average on all devices . Well almost all, on my androids i have this app called network monitor pro and its great to know the speeds . Tethering to my roku is great too never stops and starts vids right away or anything its loading Never though id say this but metro is doing it for me right now

Had to downgrade since the mobile hotspots settings would reset after a reboot . Plus phone was hot and i think they are updating something cause i couldnt update my prl .

Faster speeds means better battery. If your battery is getting hot, you probably have a bad app. If you have one of those "increase battery life apps" that is what's making your battery die faster.

Yea, your phone sounds like it's being difficult. You may have to factory reset and reflash firmware. You can upgrade back with this http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...re-official-motion-4g-10c-d-e-f-firmware.html Sounds like it just needs a reflash and factory reset.

Its stock and after upgrading to g I factory reset and I took most stock apps off only ones left are there since it would brick if I took them out . I had no apps downloaded besides supersu which was installed during root so after downgrading everything is back to normal battery is super cold now and Im getting my tether back while on g which I flashed yesterday afternoon I had only used 6 gigs and after that it was really slow not sure if its cause they are updating but now I got my speeds back the hopspot apps settings stay after rebooting so I'm guessing the update was for people like me that tether all day maybe its something to do with switching the sensor off that's the only thig I could think of or titanium backup since I had to install to take off stock apps but uninstalled as soon as I rebooted .

Oh yeah so I forgot to mention that the phone is meant to be a dedicated hotspot . So only thing running is that app plus tablet talk . So basicly it shouldn't have a reason for being hot .

Yeah I'm well aware of that it use to get hot back then when I would use it while it was tethering and also had a bunch of apps from the play store installed plus all the bloat Google crap but after i tweaked it it wouldn't get hot even while charging but when I upgraded it it got hot even though it wasn't charging or being use besides tethering I hadent even installed tablet talk yet also turned off the sensor rhino talked about in one of the post on the root section

I tried to install the update but a message popped up saying my phone is suspicious of being rooted, cannot install.

I'm just happy my phone isn't bricked.

So i did what you said i downgraded to d since it never gave me problems and worked my way up with the software updater not sure if it was cause the download was bad but now my phone stays fresh and it even stayed on threwout the night was at 50% when i woke and the hotspot was set to never turn off . Rebooted and the settings stuck thanks for your unroot unbrick tool its really a keeper . Loving the new speeds
