"I HAVE MINE..." Thread...

Well, last summer I used my upgrade on the Epic 4G Touch. I did like the phone (in most areas)... the Camera is simply outstanding, the screen produces great color, and in general the phone is zippy fast. However, the radios sucked and the GPS sucked (never could come close to locking indoors)... so at that point.. its not a phone.. its a mini-tab. I traded it straight across for a Photon via craigslist.. Its a very solid phone.. Great radios and GPS.. Great kickstand.. overall nice, but the pentile matrix screen.. wow.. I thought I wouldn't notice.. but, I did, and it sucks. Phone just seem'd a bit slow within the UI, too... not very smooth. So, I traded that straight across for a 3 month old EVO 3D... and I'm so happy right now.. its just great. I had the original EVO 4G and used to spend lots of time in these forums because of the great following here... and its good to be back!! My EVO 3D has been great so far... just an all around solid device, I like it a lot!!. Look forward to using it for till the EVO LTE is released.

In short, Glad to be back!! :)

PS. a cool site for Sprint's Network Vision/LTE updates: s4gru.com

PSS. I thought I read that HTC said the EVO 3D would be getting ICS, anyone remember the time-frame? This summer, I thought??

Glad your back & *happy* :D As far as ICS I've kinda lost interest, my E3D with GB works pretty flawlessly for what I do. The Evo One s/Ville has me intrigued though!!

I find that Evo 3d's reception isn't that great. The Photon is definitely better than both the Epic Touch and EVO 3D. But like you I cannot stand the pentile display. Also the Photon have a hard time displaying black color. Also the Photon have very limited codec to decode many HD videos.

The Epic Touch has gotten considerably better in the reception area with recent modem updates. I was using all 3 phones until recently.

Hi, I just bought my first android device HTC Evo 3D. I bought it from a list of other devices including sensation, desire HD and SE arc S which more or less of similar price here. Being a past symbian user (I sold my Nokia e72 recently) I don't know whether i did the right thing but hoping for a great ride only.:)

I am still loving my EVO 3D had the 4G before that one. I can't wait for the new LTE EVO. I have one more upgrade there giving me in June since I became 10 years with Sprint in Sept and after 10 years you get yearly well now anymore since they changed it but there letting me have one more. I have to use it by the end of the year and then I'm stuck for 22 months so I might as well get the new EVO when it comes out.

Hell, yes... It's finally back in my hands. A brand new beautifully man-made EVO 3D is once again in my possession.

This device is running Android version 2.3.4... with an annoying notification at top prompting me to update to the newest and latest Android version for this device.

Will I update? No! Why? After reading and witnessing how horrible ICS runs on my former device (Evo Design 4G) _ the chances of updating is next to zero. Would I ever decide to update at some point? Yes! When? When HTC and Sprint admit that the ICS update wasn't ready for distribution, and send out a maintenance update. Some devices just can't handle Ice Cream Sandwich.

My phone (the one I'm currently using, EVO 3D) is running so sweet, no lag, application open on touch, text input keyboard works flawlessly, YouTube and multitasking work the way I know they should, or at least...the way i want them to. What else, yea! Everything else function and operate smoothly.

Gingerbread rocks! And No, I'm not missing out on anything not running ICS. In fact, I'm getting a peace of mind running on the gingerbread version of Android. :)

OK, then see if we care, LOL make sure you turn the OTA off so you are not always asked to up. FYI ICS is great if you take the update and then do a FR, I have been running ICS for almost 3 months now with no issues. ;)

How do you turn the OTA off? All i see is a notification prompt at the top of the screen.

I will give it my best shot, remember I am on ICS, try this

Settings/system updates/HTC Updates tap and uncheck

How do you turn the OTA off? All i see is a notification prompt at the top of the screen.

Yes, that works fine. I have to get back into the game of getting re-attached to my HTC 3D again. Ahaha. :D

Note: If ICS feels as good as Gingerbread does, then maybe I'd think about it. I noticed that with ICS, you cannot copy youtube video url anymore. Have you noticed this too? However, you can share the video via email or messaging.., then copy the url. Not as intuitive as how its done on gingerbread. :p

That is correct and that is because of the lawsuit between apple and HTC, I have an app that I flash to my phone called HTClinkify, which fixes that issue ;)
