No it would definitely fail, it will have to be applied on the stock 2.1 rom due to the assert checks. But if we get the update.zip we don't have to wait for VZW to push. I just want it because it believed to have an updated PRI that doens't update if you use the leaked RUU or ROM built of the RUU.

oh okay I was thinking I don't wanna back up to 2.1 and have to wait. :p Quick someone give this guy the update.zip! :D

"You will need bone stock 2.1, or if you have s-off, you can extract the firmware, and flash it via hboot"

My dinc is s-on ...... how do i make sure it switches to s-off ?

Somebody said you have to wait, you cannot force it. Well I tried forcing the power button on REAL HARD....thinking that they didn't really try to confirm their theory. However, I can confirm that force did not work.

Now I'm gonna try a few Jedi mind tricks......"This is the dinc you are looking for.... those other droids are not the ones you are looking for...." I can see I'm a little rusty.

Did someone say Jedi mind tricks? ;)

Has the updated prl file helped with call quality, anyone? Call quality was the main reason I returned the DInc for the DX.

Steven, I can't answer your question because I never noticed poor call quality, but for what (little) it's worth, I can tell you that after installing a rooted version of this update and doind a PRL update (*228, option 2), I went from 1-2 bars to 4 bars.

No. Call quality is just as garbled and same dropped voices. Signal reception is better and bars equate better to dBm signal, but call quality still sucks big Oprah butt. :( Seriously

Not seeing how some of you are getting such high Quadrant scores unless rooted and overclocked with another kernel. I have used several roms and the stock kernels and never got above real low 1200's with a clean Inc and no junk on it. Even with Kings BFS kernel, I hit about 1250 and that is a more optimized kernel than stock. I average 1232 with a clean Inc. I test before and after loading a bunch of stuff to see if it impact performance. Does not seem to make a difference.

In fact, on stock kernels and Skyraider and Stock rooted 2.2, I average 1175 with no OC. King kernels and no OC I average 1233. I respectfully doubt such high scores unless an anomaly.

It just varies a lot. I just hit 1301, but I've also had under 1200. I followed this up with 1280, 1222 and 1295. This is with the RUU. No live wallpaper or anything special really. Probably only non-stock thing running at the time was pdanet.

thats a pretty confusing guide

I agree and it isnt working for me anyway I have s-on ...Tried unrevoked 3 but im not having any luck with that, guess ill have to wait for an update.zip or the OTA :( .............. Oh well, not that big of a deal really but was looking forward to accomplishing this tonight

I was actually trying to mentally follow along until at the end it said "hmm on second thought this build might be final, skip a few of those steps"

WTF?? Do i just guess which ones?? Update the effing guide ya lazy bastid!! lol

"Pull the update.zip from /cache/ and upload it so we can apply it" It would be nice if some of you lucky bastards hooked us all up :) LOL

To get s-off you need to go to unrevoked get the file from there. Make sure you read all the warnings and understand them before you do it. Took all of 30 seconds to actually flash it.

(WRONG outdated update!! ) pay this post no mind and sorry for the confusion

If not rooted

Backup your apps using a backup tool, like Astro File Manager
Download the file dinc_ota.zip, rename it to update.zip and place it in the root of your SD card.
Reboot into recovery (turn on USB debugging and run “adb reboot recovery” or power down the phone and then press and hold power and volume down)
Press volume down once, then press the power button to select Recovery
Press power and volume up to bring up the recovery menu.
Use the volume rocker to highlight apply update.zip, then power to run it
Reboot the phone when prompted.
Go to Settings > About phone > Software information > Baseband version and verify that it’s 2.05.00.06.11.
You can now re-root your phone by running Unrevoked 3 and make a new Stock + OTA Antenna backup in nandroid.

That's an old version. Check the article date, July 28th. That's not the current OTA.

Not a problem. you might want to edit your posts and remove the links in case people don't read further than your posts and get too excited.
