fourth one down is that really froyo I can download now
Droid Incredible by HTC (Verizon) - Froyo MR - 2.6.32 kernel source code
HTC - Developer Center
I don't get why some people will not just WAIT until the official OTA - you will have it very shortly!
Why bother/hassle with installing it another way, and risk something bad happening? I just don't get it...
Verizon ......is kinda WEIRD, WHY are they so hush hush about when and how they push out these updates, what is the big deal? Let us in on the big secret.

they haven't been quiet about either.Verizon ......is kinda WEIRD, WHY are they so hush hush about when and how they push out these updates, what is the big deal? Let us in on the big secret.
If you are going to go through the hassle to do a wipe, you might as well upload the RUU and not wait for the OTA. Wiping is part of the install of the RUU.
The benefit of having it come OTA is that it won't wipe the device. To me, it doesn't make sense to wait for OTA and wipe. Do it now with the readily available RUU and be done with it. It's the exact same as the OTA...
Do we have proof that the RUU is the EXACT same thing as the OTA with the obvious exception of being a fresh install? Real proof?
BTW... just asking for real in case any tone of disbelief or doubt comes from my inquiry.
Thanks
Yes. All versions and builds match between the 2: Meaning they are exactly the same.
Hopefully not getting on nerves here... but just to make the whole issue clear and safe for everyone, do you know where you have seen those results and also, more importantly, would the RUU install appear to be a legit install to Verizon in case of warranty or upgrades?
Again, thanks... hopefully this clarification will help some people needlessly waiting for an update because frankly the thought of a fresh install is preferred by this IT person.
Still, even if all of the above is GTG... there is still the "what if" risk if something goes wrong during the RUU update... trying to explain that to Verizon/warranty/tech support still sounds a little sketchy/troubling.
...
I got froyo ....
but it melted and short circuited my Incredible

<--EDIT: sarcasm not detectedWell I said the hell with it backed up my apps using Astro and ran the RUU. Install went great, restored all my apps and now back up an running. If anyone is waiting for the OTA, run the RUU, backup your apps before doing so and then restore them using Astro or some other backup program worked great for me.
By these guidelines the poll should be 100% people who have received the OTA.
