Will you lose all your info (e.g. Notes from programs like Notepad) when you update to 2.2? Will I have to reinstall all my programs from Market?
 
How do you do the date trick? When I change the date and uncheck use Auto Network date it just goes back to Sept 2nd a few seconds later......

i'm in the same boat as you. i've tried it for the past 20 mins with zero luck. If anyone could chime in with detailed instructions i'd be very grateful:)

Actually the Update Option just popped up. I think you must start downloading it once you change the date and even though it switches back to the correct date.

What did you do? I've changed the date to practically every one in Sept with zero success. Are you on Wifi or 3g? Help me I think i'm the only person without Froyo now:(
 
The Verizon phone activation system is back up and running.

After a factory reset I'm good to go with froyo and man is it sweet! (No pun intended...)

Nope. I'm still waiting. Date trick didn't work for me either.

And no I don't want to do it manually. This is personal now.
 
First post here. Been a lurker since I got my DInc in May.

Anyways, I got the option to update to 2.2 last night while reading Engadget on my phone. Read that it wanted to update so I hit ok, but nothing happened(hit it a few times). The Notification just stayed there.... I then hit more info and it sent me to my Home screen and nothing from there....I did the Date trick and it keeps reverting back to today's date with no Update download. I keep checking for updates and it says it's up to date. Still on 2.1 :( I really do not want to install it myself too. Any other ideas? I'll probably just wait until Saturday to do anything.
 
got the update, home screens all look same and no swype, thats corrct? i was expecting app launcher and swype, were they not included in 2.2

Sorry no swype and app launcher with the 2.2 update. You can get a swype beta invite by going to their site and signing up.

Scrolling and such seems much more snappier. Phone seems clearer and signal is stronger. I have noticed one problem so far. Twitter for HTC Sense cannot login into my Twitter account. It says incorrect username and password. I verified what I typed in was correct but, still nada. Yet, I downloaded the Twitter app and input the same exact login info and it worked. I'm running a SkyRaider mod 2.2 ROM right now and couldn't stand the Twitter for HTC Sense so I'm using a combination of Twidroid, Toutier, and Twicca and haven't had any problems with them.
 
My brother goes between his DI and an X. He currently has service on his X, but walks around with DI on wifi waiting for the update. I told him he will need service on the DI to get the OTA. Can someone confirm that service is indeed required to get the update?

Date trick worked for me. Unchecked automatic date/time. Set it too 19 Sept. Went to home screen and waited a few minutes. Saw the 1X going steady, looked in system update and bam!!! It's downloading it. The only diff I see I was at 1x and not 3g. Took it 2 minutes to change date back. Awesome trick if that is what triggered it.
 
Woke up this morning and checked my Dinc and, whooohooo, the update is here. Installing even as I type this. Yay!
 
I got a message to update my phone and chose yes and clockwork recovery blocked it. If I remove clockwork and unroot my phone, can I still upgrade my phone OTA?
 
my guess is that if you unroot you'll lose the OTA (if you haven't already). It's worth a shot though. Worst case scenario is you apply it manually.
