Root I messed up, bad?

I just woke up...good? NO! After working hard all afternoon/night on my phone with the help of steven58. I was finally on my way to gb. Had some issues trying to sbf, then issues flashing part I of the III part gb zips. Everything was finally on track, I got back to stock, re rooted, re downloaded the files(this time they dl'd fully) and while waiting for the first part to finish flashing, (the first file is the longest) I ****IN FELL ASLEEP!!!!

Battery died, stuck in a "M" bootloop, and am trying to charge it now. Is my phone charging while it bootloops? What do I do next??? b/c your not supposed to restart your phone without flashing all 3 parts of the gb file?:mad:

At least im bootlooping right? DOes that mean its possible to save my phone from being a shiny paperweight? Im highly upset and after working all night on it to finally get on the right track, I feel like an idiot who deserves no phone..:(

cant believe I just did that. After all the troubleshooting and issues i ran into. I mess up in the worst way possible. How do you fall asleep?! No sarcasm please.

What do I do, Its been looping for about 5-10 mins now. Im hoping that its charging.

-I can load into locked bootloader(power+camera+vol) but it still says low batty, cannot program.
- I can load into android system recovery (home+power) but Im at this point im afraid to try the factory reset or to wipe. Dont even want to think about what applying the update.zip file would do. smh.

Wake up Y'all!! Man down, Man down!!

tried to do a factory reset from the recovery window. Still boot looping.

Im mailing this one in. No point in staying up if no one else is up here

You nearly flew the coop! Simmer down my friend...you will have your phone back to a working state soon. The battery will die on you in recovery mode, but I can think of at least four different ways to either prevent it, or get it charged back up. When I first got my phone, I made a cable that would charge my battery back up after totally screwing it up while SBF'ing with the wrong file. Your phone will also be fine. You have done nothing permanent. An SBF will get you right back to where you need to be.

YES..man i nearly blew a head gasket. Lack of sleep. continuous hrs trying to flash my phone when it sh ould have only taken a half hour smh. And my infant boy was of n on sleep and awake throughout the night..ugh. I need to make a "Droid office" lol So i get no distractions.

But I somehow found a wifi connect(from an ice cream shop a few doors down) while i wait in the p lot of vzw.

Sounds like you need one of P3's new cables Can't you charge it while its powered off?

*gasp*..they DO exist.. (xmas m&m commercial) But no, i cant charge it. As soon as I plug in the usb(from wall port) is tries to power on. And when i plug in from cpu usb port, nothing happens besides the green led stays lit.

Yes, TBH just began selling cables that power your phone without the need for the battery. So no, it doesn't charge your battery, but it's something that you would use if you expected to be in the bootloader or recovery for a long time. It's $25 and I really don't recommend it unless you plan to do some serious phone flashing.

You can actually make a cable to charge the battery by cutting the end of a usb cable and connecting the positive and negative wires directly to the battery. (There is a how-to guide on one of the Android forums) It is a total PITA and I had to do it one time, but it worked. Also, you can do what you just did or find a friend with an X and ask them to charge it.

Back when I owned my Samsung Omnia, I bought a charging cradle that had a slot to charge a 2nd battery. That would be a useful solution for the X but I haven't seen such an accessory if it does exist.

yea..def sounds like a pita. But do what you gotta do right? And yea, for 25 its probably worth it..if your a dev maybe.

Me thinks bsems1000 needs to switch to decaf....

Actually a nice cup o joe would have definitely helped last night/this morning lol

OK. got the batty to +80% Got the sbf file from the "noob friendly thread from metsfan" running rsd v4.8 Lets see how this goes.

It should be a sticky that anyone flashing any rom should have a spare battery fully charged before you begin. I was just restoring a back up and did not look at the battery level and it died. Stuck at M until I got to work and fetched my other battery to sbf. Lessons learned

I thought I updated the thread. Everything went as planned. Sbf'd, .588, to 595 deodexed. No issues for me. Only alternatives I had to take was disabling(sp?) usb debugging and having to re install busybox from the busybox app in the market(jrummys) so I can run the market fix to re-intall quickclock advanced.

595 is fast. So fast that for normal use, I underclock to 700Mhz and get crazy batty life while having zero lag issues(even when running multiple apps and navigating through gallery, 500+ pics/vids). But when I want to show off or when im charging and going to be on the phone piddling around for a while I oc it to 1.225Ghz.

It should be..b/c having that spare would have eliminated a night/morning of stress lol.

Even when you know you should have a charged batty while rom'ing like I did. Sometimes dumb sh*t happens and you get caught up..forgetting about the batty life.

I've been saying this all along. A few months ago, it seemed liked everyday someone new encountered this fiasco because they didn't have enough charge on their battery.

I love p3 but $50 for a cable is insane! Get a charger off ebay for $5 or less. It will allow you to charge the battery OUTSIDE of the phone.

USB AC Wall Battery Charger Motorola Droid X BH5X MB810 | eBay

Well damn. How simple is that? For someone who wants to carry a spare, you can possibly go two days or more without needing to charge your phone. Cool!

They do sell the extended battery for the DX but I don't see the point in it. You put in this bigger battery with the thicker door to accommodate said bigger battery for what? An extra hour or so of battery life?
