Root I Might donate an elite

So i will most likely be upgrading to an Evo V so i will gladly donate my phone because I would love to see even a little more development on this phone. But just to note this is not a 100% done deal but its very likely so I figured Id let you guys know. I have a sprint elite and everything works and its in pretty perfect condition. Ive never donated a phone so im not sure how to go about this or who to donate to but like i said i will gladly donate to a good developer with good intentions. :D :car:

edit: something happened and i wont be getting the evo 4g :( im really sorry for not being able to donate my elite but i will throw in some money if we end up donating to buy a phone just because i feel bad for all of this.

edit again: Soo I will be getting it, it will be coming between the 11th and the 13th so i will be donating shortly after it comes. Yayyy

I would most likely donate to giantpune, but this StarScream guy says he wants to help develop.....we know what Pune is capable of, I would get a little more history from the other guy.
 
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not calling anybody out, but what this phone needs is a kernel/rom building developer. You don't need another developer that can theme roms/base them on stock, because you already have enough of those. A person that is willing to help with CM7/CM9/CM10/CM10.1 is what you need. Just take that into mind when you are choosing a developer to donate to. :). I would look through XDA or developers that have developed for previous VM smartphones so that they will actually use the phone and not just stash it somewhere to collect dust, like most of my phones end up doing :P
 
I wish there was more then one Elite to donate, I don't want Starscream to feel angry if we choose Jet or whoever else. Hope there is no hard feelings towards anyone if you don't receive the phone.
 
I believe I saw a guy named Starscream in one of the.groups that Jet its a part of, along with Downthemachine. But I could be wrong, I'm sure they will clarify.
 
To clarify the original group is no longer active due to personal issues on Starscreams side... Me along with Downthemachine have broken off and formed another group along with a few others and our mission is as I stated above... to support devices which otherwise have none
 
There aren't any hard feelings between us btw... the fact of the matter is that he had personal issues to resolve and now has different interests... thanks for the good word man
 
Looks like Jet may be our likely candidate for the phone then. Hopefully pmomp gets on soon and replys to the thread :]

I'm in for 5-10 bucks.

I saw a guy who's got one up for $40 with a bad esn. Maybe he can be talked down if he knows it's for development? Not sure if the dev phone would need to be activated, I guess it might if troubleshooting data/messaging, but not for booting and other functionality issues.

I think it has to have been activated at least once in order to have an MSL. It sounds weird, but with the original method of obtaining your MSL, the hex code didn't exist for it unless it had been activated.

But I'm not sure if that affects anything else.

usually a bad esn happens when a customer doesn't pay their bill or the phone is stolen, well at least that is my understanding of it
 
Huh. VM is prepaid so I don't see how you "can't pay your bill" with it since it uses top up cards and you only get what you pay for. Stolen? So when someone sells a bad esn OE on EBay it might be stolen? O.o Uh oh. I dunno that sounds bad to mee.
