Root I need a CM7 flash refresher

Im going to go back to cm7 and was trying to remember after flashing cm do I boot then go back to recovery to flash gaps od can I just flash gaps after cm finishes with out booting.
also which tiamat kernel was the kernel of choice. Looking forward to some old school cm.

i alway flash gapps in the same recovery session. it is the kernel that i wait to get everything setup in the rom before i flash the kernel. so yes make a nandroid backup, flash cm7, flash gapps, reboot, wipe, flash tiamat.

i used the latest one with cm7 and it worked great. can't remember which one everyone else liked. it was in the 3.XX

gapps is all the google apps that dont come with aosp roms and tiamat is an asop kernel.

any rom that is put out with the cm team will have google's proprietary apps separate from their roms. you need to flash them separately. for a more detailed explanation check out the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/618281-list-utilities-apps-roms-kernels-og-evo.html. read the second post.
