Help I need a hand with activation

Im attempting to activate my OM on another carrier, but when I dial *228 I cant access the keypad so that I can punch in the dial tones. Other carriers are not as simple as MetroPCS is. I've tried several applications that double as dialing pads, but none seem to work.

My phone is currently running CM7.

Cm7 doesn't have keyboard for activation, switch to froyo.
