Root I need a little Liberty help please

I want to try the liberty rom everyone is raving about. Right now I'm running apex.

This is my problem.
I downloaded the liberty zip to my pc. I open it with my izip program. Make a new folder on my desktop and place it from izip to my new folder. Then I try to put it on my sd card for my phone. I go into bootstrap, install zip from sd card. But it has multiple files in the liberty file I have like its already unzipped. Should I be putting it in the clockwork file on my sd card?

I used rom manager for apex, so that was easier then this method.

Also where do I put the themes for liberty on the sd card for install?

don't unzip it with your PC...just place the zip file straight on your sd card...

When you DL it, in the Box that shows the DL is complete right click select open contents of folder, find file drag to desktop. no need to extract, place on root of SD. boot into recovery clear cache and data. install Zip. from SD choose file install, reboot. :)

Awww ok so the izip is unzipping it for me....dang that was easy.
So now placing it on the "root". What exactly is that? The clockwork folder?
Thanks guys with such quick responses.

If it's on your PC as a compressed file I just drag in onto the device which I can see under My Computer as drive g (G on my pc, could be another drive on any other pc). You'll probably see a confirming data transfer dialog box.

"root" of SD card = the first area you see when opening up the card in Windows Explorer, the highest level you can get.

Seriously, if you have to ask this, you're not ready. You should read and get it first or if things go wrong, how are you going to fix it?

Also, make sure you back up your rom before you try to install any new ones, you might need that safety net later. ;)

quick ROM instructions

>>connect phone to pc through usb,
>>make sure usb debbugging is on,
>>download and save file straight to your sd card
>>unplug from usb
>>backup apps and app data with titanium backup>>start clockwork mod recovery
>>click bootstrap recovery
>>click ok after success
>>click reboot recovery
>>when booted in clockwork recovery make a nandroid backup
>>>>select backup and restore
>>>>backup
>>wipe data
>>wipe cache partition
>>select install zip from sdcard
>>select choose zip from sdcard
>>find filename, in this case LibertyX-1.0.zip
>>select .zip file to install
>>select yes
>>after install return to main clockwork recovery screen
>>reboot now
>>download titanium backup from the market
>>restore apps and data

also some launchers allow you to backup the image of your screen setup, these backups will not replace your widgets tho, you have to do that manually.

if you follow these steps, you can install any ROM, just make sure you wipe data and cache if the developer tells you too.

and if you enjoy the ROM, donate to the devs cause they don't get paid to do this.

ENJOY!

ROM Manager will also install this ROM for you, be sure to wipe data and cache. I used ROM manager for this one because I was feelin lazy and it worked no prob. And you should get a Liberty Tool Box app with ROM installation. Look around in there and you'll see the themes available for d/l and install.
