Likely, you need the drivers. When you connect the phone in hboot via usb, does it prompt you to install drivers? Try installing htc sync, first.

As for hboot 2.10, how did you get that? What exactly did you do yesterday?

yes it does prompt me to install drivers..should i just do that?

That's fine. I wouldn't expect it to. The only purpose in installing it was to get the drivers. When you connect the phone now, it shouldn't prompt you to install the drivers anymore. Try rerunning the RUU if you haven't already.
