Root I Need Help From The Devs

TheDemon

Android Enthusiast
Alright. I decided to actually do something around here instead of sit at my computer all day laughing a certain user. I'm not going to name any names.... Haha.. Stock ics hehe...

I want to become part of the dev community. Since I'm at my computer all day. I could be doing something... Something to help out.

I think I read somewhere on here about how to set up a workspace or something. Linix, something, something, 64bit. But I can't seem to find the thread.

I am running a 64bit computer, I have Ubuntu Dual Booted.

Can any of the devs working on the Admire help me out here? Like help me start off, since I'm a complete noob.

PM me if you're willing to help ^-^

Thanks!

OH! And Happy Independence Day.

Welcome to the AndroidForums, TheDemon :).

Its great to see folks that are interested in giving back to the community by contributing their development efforts.

If I may offer a few suggestions for you to help you along your way:

- ask, but don't expect or demand help; you are already way ahead of the game here with this nice and respectful thread; folks will bend over backwards for you when you have shown that you've put in the time/work/research yourself towards learning and solving a particular issue and just need a little nudge to point you towards the right solution

- don't publish anything you haven't personally tested yourself or had beta-testers vet it for you

- be sure to publish your MD5 sums so that folks can verify they've properly transferred / downloaded your files (personal peeve of mine ;))

- review the threads by the other well-established and respected devs to see what kind of things they include for their users (description, installation instructions, bugs list, download links, MD5 sum, change log, screen shots, credits / acknowledgements / sources, etc.)

We've got a great member base here at AF and lots of helpful devs that will hopefully help you along the way.

Best of luck and we look forward to seeing the fruits of your efforts :).

Cheers!

P.S. and Happy 4th of July to all, too! :)
