Root i need help my lg optimus v dont have signal

i have a lg optimus v root with out signal and im trying to flash a rom and see if it work
but the screen i shows
E:failed to open/sdcard/update
have android system recovery<3e>
what can i do please help
 
Your going to have to make it a little clearer what you are trying to do
what your phone stats are, what recovery do you have, what rom are you trying to flash?
don't ever try to download any files with 3g it's to slow and could corrupt files! Go to the stickies at the top of the all things root page before you do anything else and read read read!

This actually a common untruth. You can flash a zip from a folder just as easily as from the root of the sd card. This includes roms, kennels, and flashable scripts such as Amphetamines. I always keep my roms, kernels and such in folders to help keep them sorted by name. You just need to navigate to the folder then select the zip file.

I know this, but it's easier for beginners to follow directions that are simple. IE no folders.

What have you done to your phone? As exact as possible
 
my brother give it to me I don't know what he did to the phone
But it doesn't have signal at all I was thinking my be a ROM helps
But I put some app for. Root Androids and the app say I need to root the
Phone first
but i push vol. down ,home, and power and shows
android system recovery
I have a evo and is more ez than the LG
Please help
 
Your phone is not rooted and has the stock recovery. If it has the stock ROM it will have the activate app in the app drawer. Select this and let it do it's thing. You may have to do this several times before you get your signal back.
Then go to the All Things Root Guide sticky ^ at the top of this sub-forum and look at the first two guides and the ZV9 update guide. Once rooted with a custom recovery and nandroid backup, go to the guide for flashing/Installing a flash_image, recovery, and custom ROM.

Note: If the account has not been paid you will get no sevice and will have to go somewhere to get free WiFi if you don't have WiFi where you live. You can take your uSD card out and download everything onto it from a friends PC as well.

First read thru the guides mentioned.
 
I let the activate app run but it shows
Error:06-07-5920
And I made the ##virgin# reset and nothing happened
What can I do
 
Are you sure the account is paid up to date? If not no service, no signal or data, just WiFi is all.
If it is paid up to date, call V. M.
 
They are going to have to give you a new esn # in order to get service call VM then you will be able to active your phone!
After that you can root,install new recovery, and flash Rom, :D

Virgin Mobile will never give you an Electronic Serial Number, theses come factory set by the manufacturer of the phone components. It is illegal to change this number. That would be like changing a cars vin (vehicle identification number).

Your probably right! :D but when you dial ##virgin# or something like that, once you go to the number page/screen, virgin mobile will tell you to erase the numbers and they will give you new number to type in your phone them they will tell you to click ok. Sorry I can't remember which number to change since I did it a log time ago! to reactivate my OV!

EDIT: ESN and MEID this numbers :D

You can! But if you want to stay with Virgin mobile all you got to do is call them and active your phone! There's are many many roms/ports for the Optimus v! All different kind of style from iPhone style to ligux,lewa,G.T.R,gingersnap,ics 4.0,miui, just to Name a few off my head:D
