Root I need help returning to stock

Idunno

Android Enthusiast
Long story short I shattered my screen, did the insurance thing, and now I have my old broken Ally that needs to be returned completely back to stock, and my "new" Ally that needs to be rooted and ROM'd.

The following link is broken http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/166588-how-flash-stock-lg-rom.html which im sure would have answered most of my questions, so can anybody link me up to a stock restoration guide?

Also am I going to have any trouble rooting/ROMing with the new phone (I believe its 2.2.2), I imagine there isn't too much difference from 2.2.1 but figured I would ask since I haven't done this for a few months. Thanks in advance.

Old phone, you can use the nandroids posted by swc to go back to stock then flash the stock recovery zip. This should work fine. I had them spend 45 minutes trying to prove i had rooted my phone over some BS then sent me a replacement. The link to the recovery flashable zip for the stock recovery is in swc2001's post

Dautely posted 2.2.2 stock nandroid, but if your radio is from 2.2.1 then it MAY not change that and if someone went looking they may notice. Although most of the time the people at verzion dont know nearly as much as they lead on.

Or you can use LGNPST to flash stock ZV6. I would probably just use the nandroids.

Ill post links in a few.

To root the new phone, id advise using LGNPST posted above to downgrade, the using the 2.2 root guide. You will be able to use the "Lite" zips or if you already have the froyo.zip downloaded you can start at the adb.bat step.

If using the guide and LGNPST is too much you can use GingerBreak.apk to root it (search xda for it) but if you bootloop and recovery messes up, then you just may be SOL. AND THIS DOES HAPPEN!!!

Perfect, thanks for taking the time to post up those links. I'm pretty sure they're gonna junk my phone anyway, but I just want to make sure I have all the bases covered so they don't raise any questions.

The usb connector is also tweaked and loses connectivity randomly when mounted so this ought to be interesting....

Thanks again.

if the USB port/jack, is loose definitely DONT use LGNPST. the nandroids should work fine. also i dont think insurance is voided by rooting it. the replace it if you sit on it, drop it, take it swimming. i think it would be like car insurance, even if i get wasted and drive into my house. if ive paid for the right insurance they pay for it. could be wrong though

I'm pretty sure that if your returning the phone directly to Asurion (not Verizon) for replacement they could care less if it's rooted or if it will even boot. At least it use to be this way, Not 100% positive about it now.
