Root I need some help!!!

Buckster

Lurker
I just bought my first android phone off a guy on ebay. I haven't received it yet but one of the reasons I bought it was because it was already rooted. I asked the guy to send me info on the root so I know all the functions but basically all he knew was how to start the phone normally. He had a friend at a cell phone shop install the root for him. I know it is "fission 2.5.6be". Can someone give me a website to look at or send me some basic instructions? I should be receiving the phone in the next couple days and I wanna know all about it before I get it activated.

Thanks!!!

Well, as far as I know all 'roots' are the same. In other words the process on how to root the phone doesn't matter because the end result is the exact same. A phone is either rooted or not, and whether it was done by the Z4 app, or fission doesn't much matter.

After the root, it opens up a lot of options for the phone. Check out some of the threads that are floating around on the advantages of rooting.

If the phone is running fission 2.5.6be it has been more than rooted. A new ROM has been installed on it. That means over the air updates and such will likely not work unless the ROM is changed. This is not as difficult a process as it sounds and there is a ton of reading on this site that can point you in the right directions.
