Root I need someone who hasn't applied the recent OTA update

Still looking for someone who hasn't applied the OTA update yet..

Sorry i couldnt help but i just wanted to let you know by some pure stroke of luck i pushed that v9 file onto the phone. i was trying to use lg utils 0.4.2 to extract it which didnt work but it had an option to push a cab file it was risky and i thought for sure that i was gonna brick the phone but i didnt! it works! just thought id give you an update
 
Trident! my i tricked my phone into re downloading the v8 update! its telling me its ready to install. however its not on my sd card. where could it be stored?

Update: i got a folder on my pc of the extracted v6 software

Hmm... it's not anywhere on the SD card?

And what do you mean by the extracted V5 software?
 
No its not. i checked every folder i had. did a search. etc

and the v6 software is what comes on the lg ally or it did when i got it. i flashed my phone to the v9 software and i flashed it back to the v6 software because i missed root. and i couldnt get it to work on v9. while my phone was getting flashed to v6 i went in and copied the folder the wdb and wdh files were extracted to. so i now have a folder with the extracted zs740zv6 software

Hmm.. do you know how to access the recovery menu?
 
Nice! I'll download it right after I get out of the shower to take a look and then I'll pass it along to my friend who is going to assist me in making the custom recovery.

Please do! Is there a complete boot.img file within?

Turns out the one from the update file you gave me is just a patch image (boot.img.p), so it may or may not work..
 
That sucks. its the only zip i could find. the extracted firmware is being uploaded now in a zip file. ill post when complete

Well I didn't mean that you got me the wrong file.. just that LG didn't include a complete boot.img file within.

Thanks for uploading that..
 
Hey guys. The wife has the ally and did not received any updates. (I know, I have to maintain it every night and fix what she broke).... what OTA update are you guys talking about?
