Root I thought HTC was going to stop locking bootloaders?

So in this link:

"There has been overwhelmingly [sic] customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we've listened. Today, I'm confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience."
So why are we still waiting for the phone to be rooted? This statement came out in May, the phone came out in November. Shouldn't it have come without a locked bootloader?

Your missing a piece of key info. The carrier gets the final word. HTC has held up to their end of the deal "when allowed by the carrier". The ReZound is left out of that due to VZW. Its very unfortunate.

That's what I thought. Apparently HTC, but not Verizon, realize that every Android phone eventually gets rooted.

This day in age smartphones are like computers, you're buying the hardware, you should be in control of the software. My ISP doesn't tell me what software my PC should run.

I and most of everyone else agrees to that. That is why the allure of the G Nex is so high. It literally is one click from being wide open. No boundaries.

I've seen that. Will Verizon really allow a 1-click unlock? Maybe because it's a Nexus phone? If someone manages to S-Off the Rezound before the Nexus finally comes out, I might get the Rezound. I'm still undecided between the two.

Yes VZW has no choice on the G Nex

A very very tiny small part of me says that if any Dev is close or has root and S-off on the RZ....they may release it on the day the G Nex is released. Just to still some thunder and get some cred. ....honestly i would probably do the same if i was a dev lol

no offense guys but maybe if you rally together like the evo3d users did in may you would get results. make petitions, blow up their facebooks & twitters. it worked for them and it could work for you.

as long as the rezound is locked i will not buy it.

i politely disagree. I doubt that would work. Not with Verizon having the say so. If they didn't do it over the outcry with the DroidX they definitely won't do it now.

+1:o

I think jcase almost has it.
Which phone do you think is better?
The Rezound or the G-Nex?

Heres what I dont like about the G-Nex: No SD card and 5 MegaPixel camera with only 720p video.

Heres what I dont like about the Rezound: No Perm Root, No Recovery, No Wifi Tether that will work with the Wii... (yet), Locked BootLoader, No S-Off

Now If the Rezound has Clever Devs that alleviate those problems how do the two phones stack up?

IMO the Rezound is the way to go. Other than the nexus having ICS the Rezound has better spec's hands down. S-off will come and when this beast is unleashed it will be awesome. I went into the VZW store today and a rep that I normally deal with said people are telling him the nexus has battery issues and reception's not the best but I don't live in a big city. Again just my opinion.

I will be watching for Rezound S-OFF carefully through 1/15. If it comes, I would strongly consider dumping the Nexus for the Rezound. Of course, if I am left "stuck" with the Nexus, this is not so bad a phone that I couldn't still be happy for the next two years. But I would love to see some serious competition in rooting options from VZW phones.
