Ice Cream Sandwich available through Kies

I just woke up decided to give Kies a try one more time before forcing the download and it found the ICS update. Currently installing will report back when finished.
 
Anyone here trying to do the firmware upgrade on a mac? Mine does not seem to be cooperating with me, and didn't seem to work on Friday before they pulled it off Kies.
 
Clearly Samsung/Kies do not like Macs! My mac didn't even allow me to upgrade. Plugged the phone into my work PC, and *BAM*, ICS.

It's online folks! Get it while it's hot! (er...cold?)
 
Mine has been sitting at 2% for about 15 minutes now in the "firmware upgrade in progress" screen. Server overload, or do we have a problem? My phone has the icon of the android robot and it says "downloading...do not turn off target".

well of course they dont like apple, theyve only been sued by then a few thousand times
 
I am doing an emergency firmware recovery then I will try again.
My phone has never been rooted so this is a failure in the firmware update process or in kies.

Same, I never messed with anything on the phone. Let me know if that works...this is incredibly frustrating.
 
i'm not sure how i feel. it won't recognize my music(album titles gone), playlists screwed up. for some reason, my camera won't work and it always goes to media scanner running. my phone is just generally laggy. what do i do?!
 
update, i think media scanner took like 20 minutes but its now a background process and all my album titles are displaying correctly. however phone is still laggy....
 
I got ICS about an hour ago and now my phone no longer vibrates when receiving text messages while on silent. Anyone else having this issue? Or know how to fix it?
 
I am on live chat now, and the agent keeps telling me "our records show no upgrade is available, but will be soon". How the hell can this be, when Kies TOLD me to upgrade? My phone has been stuck on the 2% emergency restore page for about half an hour.
 
My rep did not question the upgrade at all, as a matter a fact he coined it the ICS upgrade as soon as I mentioned a firmware upgrade issue.

Visitor: yes, when I connected to Kies this morning it prompted me to upgrade the phone

We just past the "is your battery fully charged" stage.. It's been a chore but hopefulyl we are moving on to something more meaningful now.
 
You're lucky! My guy denied knowing anything about the upgrade and told me to call voice support.

In the mean time, I can't even do a hard reset on the phone OR boot it up in recovery mode. As soon as I put the battery in, I get brought to a screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."

Screw this junk, im getting back on the apple-train.
