Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

Guys I just discovered an app called "pimp my rom" it is on xda and the play store. It essentially allows you to apply numerous system level tweaks with a simplified UI. I have modified my 3g speeds, I have set my compressed zram to 68mb and also I disabled vsync (btw makes the phone run so clean like jellybean) anyways just wanted to let you all know. Please tell me about your experiences.

Give it a shot and let us know.

Now that I'm back in active dev mode, I'll see about fixing the boost apns and stuff.

Downloading Aokp now. Will let you know. I've got a lot of new found free time on my hands so ill help out with what I can.

AOKP 4.1 has incognito mode, just in time for hiding your holiday shopping from everyone... Or whatever else you do lol.

And just noticed aokp.co is back online after their recent breakin.

I'm lovin' it! :D

after 30 min testing aokp:
It refused on the first unlock attempt, after a battery pull it lockup again while i was looking on the ROM control options, it was hot as hell and it doesn't even have overclock options, and the flashing buttons thing again :(
I was excited about that ROM... maybe i'll be moving to cm10 test4.

Been runing it today, it's pretty smooth and alomst everything works, But, it have been restarting like a feeaking crazy, almost 4 times per hour when i'm using it.

After using it for almost 24 hours I had to go back to CTMOD. Everything was lagging horribly and at times locking up. I wasn't having sort ware incompatibility like the previous versions. But it was pushing it majorly with me.

why in cm9 mass storage works fine and the camera almost works to but in cm10/aokp they doesn't?
or they are unrelated?

Don't know about mass storage.

I switched to the ICS camera blobs in the JB builds in anticipation getting the kernel updated to make the cameras work fully. But that also means they won't work at all until the kernel is updated.

I could easily switch back to the GB camera blobs if folks want that. The back camera is pretty useless, but it might be nice if anyone uses the front camera. I'm not going to put any time into fixing functionality with the GB camera blobs (eg. the ShenduOS code), that's a dead end.

Found an issue in AOKP that is causing the glgps service to spin. That's probably causing some lag.

Quick workaround for now: delete /system/bin/glgps.

Good idea. So far things that aren't working for me are Bluetooth and Voice search (google now)

Let me guess, this can't be done with a file explorer, right?

forget that, file deleted ;)

Read some rumors that AOSP 4.2 has stability issues. That could explain why CM 10.1 hasn't appeared yet. Also should appease those of you that salivate over rmcc's google+ screen shots (yeah, looking at you Tito23p... :p).

Running AOKP4.1 smoothly here. No radio or wifi issues. Lockscreen is working fine for me. I do experience a bit of lag here and there, but nothing major. BT didn't work for me either. Nice job tdm! Going to keep my swag on today and see how it goes, I'll keep you posted.

Couple more issues I found:

3G definitely seems spottier than ICS. It does work for me but takes longer to start than previously.

Had a reboot this morning. /proc/last_kmsg doesn't show much useful info:

Decided to take a look at GPS this morning. The problem is that the vendor library gps.omap3.so is crashing at init time. Poked around, sprinkled some debug info into the code, and didn't find much.

Finally decided to peek at the open source code for ZVC on the off chance there was something interesting in there. Lo and behold, they included their modified hardware/libhardware/include/hardware/gps.h file in the sources. That is totally unexpected because it's not GPL (it's Apache license, same as the rest of Android). Now I need to figure out if there's anything useful in it.

Just hit a random issue. My phone died, so I plugged it in, let it charge, turned it on and as soon as it was fully booted I started getting "com.android.settings has stopped working" Not sure of the cause of this. But for now I'm going to restore my CTMod backup and try a reflash later tonight when I get home.
