ICS coming to DHD

Lifted from HTC UK's Facebook Page.

"In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC EVO 3D, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD"

Later this year=

Translation meaning

So far ahead in time most people who have these devices and know what ics is will have upgraded to a newer handset so there's no rush

So true. Due for an upgrade end of April.

Don't know whether to stick or twist.

plesently supprised by this. should give my desire hd just enough life to keep it going until 4g launches in the uk next year.

Set that milestone as my next upgrade point, and im going to try damm hard to stick to it. (I prefer to buy my phones outright and have a cheaper contract).

4G won't be launching in the UK next year.

At best, there will be a spectrum auction in 2013 or 2014 (and this is only if the mobile operators agree on what is "fair" to them and the competition) and the service is unlikely to be switched on until a year or so after that.

You'll probably get through 1, maybe 2 upgrades before 4G comes here.

I wonder will HTC release the new sense update for DHD along the update of ICS. Currently facing some issue of homescreen restarting after the update. Hope the update will fix it all..

uh yeah...

Ofcom have got the 4g spectrum auction set for the 4th quater of 2012, vodaphone, orange/tmobile O2 and BT have been testing 4g for a while now so they will be ready quite soon after the auction to roll 4g out i think.

Ofcom's revised proposal for a "fair" auction has been recieved well by the Carriers that were holding up the whole process so there shouldn't really be any more delays, (in theory anyway).

Im betting 4G will arrive towards the end of 2013, 3g is already starting to get so overloaded that its going to have to arrive by then.

I know O2 were testing it in certain areas of London, but I didn't know the other carriers had begun testing/were interested at the moment.

Being essentially out in the sticks, I'll probably be waiting till at least 2018 (exaggeration) until it reaches my area anyway. H will have to do (and does) for me.
