ICS... CSC are you eligible for an update?

ICS has been released for the Samsung Galaxy S2, "G", variant, i9100G.

The first CSC code to receive it is ODD for India.

That is great news for all using this version!

Thanks ironass for updating so regularly! - I'm visiting this page nearly every day! You do a good job!

I see, that ODD India is not bold yet in #2.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums prash82in!

When it is released it will be available via Kies or OTA. For release date, contact your carrier.

You may want to check your CSC code. There isn't one for DD.

I9100 = phone model. KL1 = firmware date and release number.

my CSC code is I9100OJPKJ1, which region does it belong to? I brought this phone from Bahrain, but I am using this in India. When the update is out for it for this particular region, can I update my phone from India.!? Please Help!! :)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Giffin1991 :)

For more information on CSC code OJP see post #201 at the top of this page.

It does not matter where in the world you are you can update your phone when ICS is released for your CSC code.

Errr... no news. As soon as I have, it will appear in post #2. ;)

Read several threads and I'm still confused about what exactly I need to do to upgrade to ICS.

I have an I9100 from Bell in Canada that I upgraded via Odin to 2.3.5 many months ago. I just tried it with Kies and of course it says it can't do it through there, I guess because I previously upgraded via Odin.

Here's what my phone currently says when I go *#1234#:

PDA: I9100XXKI3
PHONE: I9100XXKI3
CSC: I9100OXAKI3

So I guess I have to upgrade via Odin again if I want ICS.

Right now it seems I have an "Open Europe" firmware. Does that mean I want an "Open Europe" firmware for ICS as well? Does it matter that when it was stock, it was not "Open Europe" but whatever it came with from Bell Canada (don't remember the old CSC.)

I looked on sammobile.com and under Europe there are several "Open Europe" firmware files for ICS 4.0.3. How do I know which one I want? Or do I even want any of them?

Can someone please point me to the correct firmware to download?

You are correct jlager in your thinking that, since you changed the firmware on your phone, you will not be able to use Kies to update to ICS.

Since all that you require is an unbranded, English language pack, firmware, the world is your lobster! :D

Personally I would go for the latest ICS firmware, LPF, which I am finding very good. You can download that, here.

Another popular firmware that appears on a lot of Canadian i6100 phones is XEU the UK firmware running on LP7 and available, here.

Both will need to be flashed via Odin as per post #1.

Ok I just flashed the first one you linked to and it worked but now everything on my phone is Italian! I thought it was an English pack...

:D:D:D

That's because it was released for the Italian/European market and has about 50 language packs installed on it and you just need to select English...

Impostazoni (Settings) > Ligua e inserimento (Language and input) > Lingua (Language) > English ( there are 6 English language packs to choose from).

Ciao :ciao:

I went too change the CSC code in the phone this morning and the only one I have is "TPA" in the code list(or lack of) so it appears that this thing is stuck to Panama. It's probably not worth going out and buying a Windows computer (friends are Macs or tablets) when I can take that money and put it into a newer phone ))

Just a heads up. I am pretty sure Malaysia have ICS update for the non-G version since Kies is already indicating a firmware update is available. And SebaKL mention he already updated.

What people might not know is that the update is also being released over the air (OTA). Getting notification for firmware update since a few days ago.

Not sure whether its good news. Don't intend to update just yet.

There is a way around your problem. You could use the method discussed here to root your phone and then install Mobile Odin from the Play Store and flash the latest firmware without using a PC.

Afternoon all :-)

Model number GT-I9100
Andriod version 2.3.4
Baseband version: I9100XXKG5
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKH1-CL431225 root@DELL87 #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKH1

Bought from Tesco (dec 2011) and on contract to T-Mobile (UK)

I've read all this thread now and just wanted to clarify a point or two...
My CSC is XEU, so therefore I should be able to update via Kies. But can't - your device does not support upgrading via Kies.
It's not (as far as I'm aware) ever been rooted, back to a samsung centre or anything like that.

If I were to flash it with LP7 as provided by Ironass in post 236 (Hotfile seems to have removed LPF) would it cause me any problems other than not upgrading via Kies (which I can't do anyway..)?

Many thanks in advance!

Col
