ICS is here!

Still waiting for the OTA. I refuse to go the KIES route that software is such bloated garbage.

I hear you if you don't mind do a factory reset and then the update will come up through update option did that last night after kies failed me been enjoying ics :D

I think it had to do with the fact that it comes with honeycomb, so after a factory reset the first thing it does when you turn it on is update the software to v.3.2, but now that ICS is available it updates to that. Right?

Just out of curiosity what do you lose when you reset? I was going to back up the entire tab but didn't want to download 12 gigs. Do you lose everything? Even books, music files, etc.?

Before doing the factory reset I save my pictures and files using kies and than I factory reset

Well ain't this a kick in the nertz. I was using my tab earlier, and suddenly I get that dialog box you get when you're checking for updates. I wasn't checking, it just popped up. So of course I choose to "check for updates", and it comes back "no software update available". Is it possible for a galaxy tab to mock it's owner? ;-)

Weird I just decided to factory reset problem solved not that I wanted to do it that way but hey running beautiful now

Hi Newbie here.

I have the Galaxy tab 10.1 wifi 16gb.

Is this ICS download for this model? Is ICS available in Canada.

Thanks guys

Oh man, not worth it, too many contacts, books, email accounts. I'll wait. Thanks.
If you use a google account, then your contacts should be synced again when you setup your gmail account. You will lose music, videos, books, etc., but they are easy to replace or drag/drop back onto the Tab. And you will need to download your apps again.

But it means you wipe away any issues and start clean again. I always do a reset with a major OS update. It's a bit of a hassle, but once you do it, you learn how easy it is to configure it. For me, it only takes 15mins or so to setup again from scratch. It takes a little longer to copy my music and videos back, but I can watch a Seinfeld episode when doing that.
:D

I could never get kies to connect. Maybe once, which makes it even more frustrating.

here is the fix to make kies work...

Uninstall and reinstall USB controller drivers and check if it helps.
Follow these steps:
a. Click Start, right-click on Computer and select Properties.
b. Go to Device Manager.
c. Click on View and click on Show Hidden devices. Navigate to Universal Bus Controllers

Well someone please help.

I flashed the UK version but I want to install the US version how do i remove the UK version and install the US.

Also is there not supposed to be face unlock option.

I just picked up a Tab. It's running Honeycomb and not rooted.

If I do the OTA ICS update, will there be any way for me to return to factory HC (no root, just bone stock) if I wanted to?
