Android 4.0(ICS) now has a fully functioning touch screen on the Thunderbolt. I have attached a video I took showing it off(its in 2 parts, took 3 hours to upload #1 and #2 just started so don't hold your breath):

Part 1-

Part 2-

You can try it out here: ICS on Thunderbolt(note-its a W.I.P., flash @ ur own risk & there's no data atm). All credit goes to twistedumbrella on rootzwiki.

Well, I guess I can gladly eat some crow from my post last night. This is a pretty big step forward. I assume data still isn't working? What about WiFi?

Looks like we're making progress! Still no official word about an official release? Cause i seem to remember htc making an 18 month commitment promise to support phones for that time period. Was that after the bolt came out? Is there any hardware limitation to the bolt getting the ice cream sandwich?

I would be willing to bet the TB will never see an official ICS OTA. AFA limitations, I don't believe there are any. If the G1 can get ICS running I think we'll be fine

I disagree with you there. I think there will be an ICS OTA for the bolt but it will be around a year from now before it is seen.

If HTC didn't announce it when they said what phones they'd upgrade what makes you think they're going to all the sudden decide to include the TB? HTC has the Rezound to worry about upgrading. The OTA ship has sailed on the TB.

Hate to say it but I agree... prolly just maintenance releases on the TB from here out. Its fine with me... I wouldn't want a sense slathered ics anyway

I'm excited for cm9

I know they didn't announce it but they did state
We're continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich

Which leads me to believe they just announced the phones that will get the upgrade first and they will keep looking at their other phones later to see about upgrading them.

Considering how long GB took I'm really hoping the community can get it running b/c I very much doubt HTC will

Yeah but the TB is a successful phone, it has good hardware and sold well. HTC pushed out a GB update for the Droid Incredible. I don't think they are going to dump the TB. It seems like it was beta tech when it was released but the GB OTA (or MR2 even) put that to rest.

HTC seems to be better with updating phones than other companies, albeit the updates seem delayed often, I still think there will be an ICS OTA eventually but it very well could be while people are waiting for someone to finish porting Jelly Bean (or whatever the next version will be called) to the bolt.

I just wonder how these phones designed for GB or lower are going to look on ICS. I personally hate the launcher on the ported versions with the redundant soft keys.

Which is why CM9 seems the best option for phones not built from the start for ICS IMO..

Any phone with physical softkeys should not display the on screen softkeys once updated. They will only be present on phones like the nexus, please don't ask for the source I don't want to dig that much right now :D

FWIW on my flyer, after installing honeycomb the softkeys dont light up any more. on it youd never know they are there  youll still see them on phones, but i dont think it will be too big a deal.

im anxious for cm9. but a working port will do nicely to hold me over till then :D

Just loaded an alpha Liquid ICS port, but no data yet. Didn't mess too much with it restoring now, got to head out. I'll try this again later. It looks nice so far just need either a working wifi or mobile data connection at this point. (or a GN release date) Went to vzw yesterday to look at the phone lineup. Nothing outstanding or much better than what we now have, imo.

My hopes have returned now that Liquid is working on ICS. I hope this will start working in the next few weeks.
