ICS only for skyrocket?

So I read that ICS has been confirmed for the skyrocket & new HTC phone...since they confirmed the skyrocket but not the gs2...does this mean it'll be unlikely well see ICS?

link please. because last i heard, samsung had not officially announced any phones to be updated.

I'm sure it'll get ICS. The question is when. It took the first galaxy devices about 8 months after its release to get it.

If the skyrocket can handle ics then there shouldn't be any problems with the og s2.

Not about whether or not the gs2 can handle it, because it can...the gs2 is more powerful than the nexus prime. It's up to the carrier(at&t) if they will update it or not. I don't really want to root my phone, but I will if that is what it takes to get ICS.

just curious as to why you say its more powerful? i'm not disputing, just new to the processor stuff and wanting to learn. both are 1.2ghz correct? whats the difference in cpu's?

True, but both are carried by AT&T, so it wouldn't make sense to update one over the other.

The International GS II will get Ice Cream Sandwich and so will all of the other variants, in my opinion. The only thing that's going to slow the process up is getting all the bugs worked out with the individual carrier branding and the TouchWiz overlay.

exactly...and is why we always get updates later in the US , regardless of carrier

The Exynos CPU in the GS2 is more powerful then the OMAP CPU used in the Galaxy Nexus, the speed doesn't really mean much(The 800Mhz A5 in the iPhone 4S beats about anything). The Qualcomm CPU used in the tmobile GS2 and in the new Skyrocket is 1.5Ghz and is not more powerful then the 1.2Ghz Exynos either. The GPU in the GN is also no where near as powerful as the one used in the original GS2.

This doesn't mean the phone sucks or will be slow and is mostly only for people excited over a # in a benchmark program they can't do anything with. Sometimes though it a difference you can see like in the ones using Qualcomm CPU's lagging in the GUI.
