There are many reasons. Hell, it's the main reason most of us get a "Google" phone anyway. Easy root and custom roms :D

Also, CyanogenMod builds a huge number of options into the ROM, like granular controls over the most fundamental system options - you can set up each individual haptic feedback, for instance, to control how long it vibrates for or what kind of vibration it uses.

Plus with Nexus devices you can always expect the development community to be quite large, with Cyanogenmod support from the start. Rooting a Nexus device makes it ten times better in my opinion. You can choose to have stock, or an upgraded version with bonus features.

The Galaxy Nexus should have a ton of support from Devs, since unlike the other Nexus devices it's being released on Verizon this time. :)

+1. Should be a great following for this phone. I really think that is being overlooked. Verizon phones have some great devs, add to that the nexus followers that will come to Verizon for the nexus and that's a great recipe. Should be some quality roms out by the time I can get this phone. Which is unfortunately probably not until February or march :(
