I wonder if we will have ICS by October, or when the operating system becomes one year old. I don't understand what the holdup is Apple is able to release their crappy software for all of their phones while you have Google developing it and than the phone manufacturer modifying it and than the operator dealing with it. I just think its pointless it should be just the developer that releases the software. Anyway it is back to the waiting game. I wonder if there is going to be OTA available or it would have to be done through KIES.
I hope the update is OTA because i have problems using kies
Not to worry. I spoke with tier 2 support regarding my problems with the Kies software and my SGS 2. These problems are well known at Samsung support. The tech I spoke with said not to worry as anything that can be accomplished with Kies can be done by other means while we are waiting for ICS.
Furthermore, the tech stated that before ICS becomes available Samsung should be rolling out an update for Kies that will correct the current/known problems with Kies on the SGS 2. We should have no problem updating to ICS with Kies by the time it becomes available.
I bought my GS2 from Tesco & even though it starts up with the T-Mobile logo there is no T-Mobile apps on my phone at all ? only Samsung so does this mean I still have to wait to get the update or can I just do it via Samsung.
cheers
hopefully we can get a link to the rom from xda. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy better than kies or over the air yet still original rom.
whatdya know....its already upthere ;-)
that is NOT!! the firmware for the T989 model... if you try to flash it you will end up with an expensive paper weight

Why is it that we constantly see ICS leaks for AT&T but we never see a leak for T-Mobile. There is no ETA on when they will actually release ICS and that kind of bothers me because there is a bug with the latest Gingerbread where the dialer uses 40% of my battery and my time without signal is 60% even though I am home and have full signal bars and download with 10 mb/s over the mobile network.
On T-Mobile the version is 2.3.6 and there are a butt load of issues with battery life as soon as I can figure out how I can make screen shots I will post one!!!
This is for the international version, not the T-Mobile version. We wont see it for a long time. My suggestion is to root and flash the ICS ROM like I did.
